Hillman 852225 Zinc-Plated Chain Bolt 6-Inch

Just more Chinese trash. It's not a 6" bolt, it's a 6" outer sleeve with a bolt that's about an inch and a half. It's pure deception to call this a 6" bolt. The bolt fits sloppily into the outer sleeve, and it deflects, not latching because of this. The fit of my doors are not sloppy enough for the overtravel needed for this deception to latch its self. I installed it, and it's still in use until I find the time to go shopping for a replacement. You have to pull the chain down while holding the door closed, release the chain and hope it bolts itself. It will not bolt itself without this extra step. Summary, 6 inch sleeve, 1-1/2" bolt. Square bolt in a round hole, sloppy fit.

Overall was a decent product, just wish it was not made in China.

i thought this was a little over priced, but now that im holding this product i can only say WOW. i purchased 2 of these but 1 should get the job done. very strong and sturdy and the internal spring takes a lot of effort to pull the pin, so this should do nicely to secure my shed doors. no more going outside and finding my shed open to the world, from now on this product will help secure my lawn tools and equipment.

This worked perfectly for me. I was able to easily reverse the bolt so that I could mount it on the inside of the door. It seems like it is decent quality, but it is made out of thin metal bent around the bolt, so time will tell how long it last. Also, since I mounted if on the inside and neither of the strike plates were setup for mounting inside, I had to flatten one of the plates so that I could fasten it inside the door frame.

The are bigger than the look in the photo, but there is no question that the door will be secure if installed properly.

This product looks good, installs easily, has a few options making it flexible.

what's to say they worked not perfect but I'm using them

very tight spring, for this I took spring and closed it uop with needle nose by compressing it a bit making it shorter and it corrected the amount of tnesion for better closure and release... very good, heavy duty bolt for my hand made Carriage doors
