Plastic connection threads
The plumbing connection threaded points are plastic. Even with Teflon tape I had to remove the filter several times, add more tape ,tighten further to stop leaks. If tightened too much I'm sure you could strip the plastic threads. I want to add a second filter to have a charcoal block after this sediment filter. I will be looking for a better alternative

It did the job but the canister was on so tight when I received it i COULD BARELY GET IT OFF. i FINALLY HAD TO LOAD THE TOP IN TO A BENCH VICE TO GET IT UNSCREWED.

Poor build quality, water pressure relief button failed.
Very flimsy component rendered whole unit useless. The red pressure relief button at the top of the unit is very cheap fragile plastic held on with just a small screw and spring. The plastic is so weak that the button no longer holds the screw in and it just pops off. Very disappointed especially with how much more expensive this unit is than basically every other similar unit from other manufacturers. I had to install a different filter unit immediately which is working completely fine. Big waste of money.

Used both AP11T and AP101T
have used both the AP11T, and AP101T (which has the 1/8 twist, shut off/pressure relief assy)I installed the AP101T for the first 4 years, until I got sick and tired of replacing and adding grease tothe O-rings in the shut off assy. I have many shut offs I can get too, so I finally landed on this version whichhas a pressure relief button (that is used just before you twist the canister off). The AP11T has served me well over the past 8 years, and does a good job of catching all the sediment thatcomes in from the main supply line.Recommendations:Hand tighten (ONLY) the plastic canister when replacing the filter; if it does not seal, use gasket grease on the large O-ring,and sealing edge of canister. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN CANISTER WITH THE SUPPLIED PLASTIC WRENCH. I have foundthat if you have to use the plastic wrench to tighten the canister, that in most cases, you are not getting a good O-ring seal. You will need some synthetic grease (like super lube 21030) and if you can't get the inlet threads to seal,I would highly recommend Permatex high performance thread sealant PX56521 which has NEVERlet me down on threads that are hard to seal.I have tried both types of filters (with, and without ribs), and have come to the conclusion that while ribs helpin some applications, they make no difference (even with the added surface area) on this type of filter, so you mightas well go for the cheaper generic filter with no ribs. Up to you............
