The Folk of the Air: The Cruel Prince / the Wicked King / the Queen of Nothing Paperback – 12 Oct. 2021

The book came in amazing conditions and fast delivery as for the book itself, I already love the plot, holly blacks is an amazing author and I highly recommend!

Loves it from the first sentence to the last. Read all three books in less than a week. Best series I have read in ages.

first off they are beautiful. I have not read them yet but i looked at the map and any books with a map are the best books you will ever read in my eyes! i cannot wait to read them

I remember reading Tithe, Valiant and Ironside when I was younger and loving the world that Holly Black was able to create. The beauty and danger that she conjures in Faerieland are beautiful and a land I think I’d both like to visit and run far away from! The Folk of the Air series was wonderfully written so that I could easily see Jude trying to navigate her way through the difficulties of trying to find her place in a land of deadly Faerie politics knowing she didn't belong in the human world either. Her strength and bravery made the series compelling and a pleasure to read. There are moments when we see her softer side but she is a fierce woman who knows what she wants to achieve.The first book does focus a lot on the politics and dynamic of Faerieland; and how Jude inserts herself into their lives and works hard to prove that she belongs in their world. Carden is easy to dislike at first but there's something almost sad about how he's treated by others despite it being mostly of his own making. There's something vulnerable in the way he behaves towards Jude which make you pity him despite his spitefulness and the danger he puts her in at times. Jude survives his various attempts to belittle her and put her in harm's way and finds her place in the Court of Shadows. The developments in Jude’s position within the court by The Wicked King is incredible to see as she seems to come find her purpose within Faerieland and helps Carden confront some of his own darkness and accept that she is the way she is because if her past. The developments in their relationship are still subtle right up until the final few chapters of the book which was believable given their history of extreme dislike. The Queen of Nothing was very well-paced and I found myself wanting to find out how Carden and Jude would reconcile and whether she would be accepted back into Court. The conclusion of the series wrapped everything up nicely and most of the characters get what they deserve!

This trilogy was a fascinating read and I was immediately invested in the story. I could not put these books down! I definitely enjoyed the wicked king the most out of three, but I enjoyed all of theme immensely. I always look forward to the ending of these books, as Holly Black never to failed to surprise me with these plot twists and cliffhangers!

This has to be one of my favourite series. I like the character growth, the world building and of course ship the main romance. This has been on my tbr for so long and I regret not reading it sooner.There are some frustrating parts, such as when you read and get to know Jude as being very clever and then at the same time not realising something so obvious such as a loophole in a ruling but I guess it does emphasise her humanity and how she lets her emotions get the better of her.The romance is from enemies to lovers and I do think that Holly Black fully explains the reasons behind Cardan’s behaviour and you also get to see him develop and become better in a very realistic way.If you’re a fantasy fan then you need NEED to give this a read!

Loved it couldn't put them down. Great characters Such great stories so sad they are over. Highly recommend them. Will looking for more by Holly.
