Great way to add a Ferro rod to a Swiss Army Knife.
This is a perfect way to add a Ferro rod to your Swiss army knife. Just swap out the toothpick, and you are good to go. Will only fit on the mid size or larger models (81mm +) but you want them that size for outdoors use anyway. And you will probably want a corkscrew model because you can get the fire starter kindling that fits into the corkscrew as well. Look for a Huntsman, a Trekker or similar Swiss army knife. The wood saw will make an excellent striker for these rods. Just remember that they are brittle and always strike on the narrow edges. Very reliable way to start a camp fire, with a little bit of practice.

Hold and strike it properly!
It’s great quality for what it is, a better than nothing option when you need it. I would not use it regularly because it is brittle but definitely happy with it over a tooth pick. You have to hold it and strike it properly per the instructions or it will break. I broke one of three and that was my fault but I still made a fire using the broken piece. Just know that it wouldn’t hold up as regular use item but it definitely beats a tooth pick any day.

Works very well with good technique
It definitely works well and as advertised. If it is not working for you, read the directions a couple of times, and watch YouTube videos. You should definitely practice; you have enough of them available. For me, it was not working very well; then I changed my technique, and it worked very well. For those breaking them, you are applying unnecessary force. Little force is needed if you find the right technique. Practice! I seriously hate the price. Was going to give a lower rating based on that. But it is what it is until they get cloned.

Functional for emergencies
Funcional for emergencies. A bit fragile but very portable, fits on your knif ok.

Good idea, bad implementation
First, the plastic "knob" or "handle" for the rod is far too flexible. They need to use a more rigid plastic. The first one I tried inserting simply broke off where the plastic is fused on. If they reduced the height of the rod ever so slightly just at the last 3mm of the tip they could get two fusion points instead of one, similar to how the tweezers at designed. Second, this does not appear to work on a SAK Ranger. Even though it's a larger knife, the hole for the toothpick seems to taper and the ferro rod easily gets stuck. The hole for the tweezers is even smaller. This did fit in a "standard," larger SAK and it does throw decent sparks. Mostly disappointed in the cheapness of the plastic part (their fault) and that it doesn't fit into the Ranger model (not really their fault).

Fire when you need it.
This is cool and it works. I removed the toothpick and replaced it with this fire starter. Fits perfect with my Victorinox Woodsmans and pocket knife. Easy to use. Thin side up. Practice with it before you really have to use it. I like the neon green color.

Very small and fragile
This product was not worth the $20 they are very small and very fragile. It shows using the back of the saw blade on the Swiss knife to strike the flint but it is nearly impossible because the blade does not lock open and the side you use your thumb to hold it open it very sharp. The flint broke into three pieces on my first attempt to use it.

Swiss Army knife can start a fire.
This increases the flexibility and use of the Swiss Army knife. I appreciate my Victorinox better than the leatherman. Fits just right, carries well. Does not interfere with comfort and installs easily.
