Backboard made the difference
I absolutely love this product and so pleased with how everything turned out… yet I do have to admit the first attempt with the anchor bolts - as I hung up my dresses -the bats pulled completely out of my wall. I did have to go back and put the backboard on the wall for secure hanging. Now it is absolutely completely sturdy and I am thrilled with my new walk-in closet.

Worth it (mostly)
Listen, love this rack. I bought it twice. It’s sturdy, the coating is thick, I love the look of it.That being said, I’m going to tell you exactly what I did to actually make this work on solid brick.- I threw out the plastic anchors that came with it because 1) plastic anchors have never, ever worked for me and 2) certainly not in brick or concrete.- If you can find anchors that accept the black screws that come with this, you’re better than me.- I ended up using 1/4” sleeve anchors that do not match but they’re strong. Make sure to get the flat head variety, the hexes would be hard to tighten.- I assembled the rack, tightened everything down so it faced the wall correctly (literally the only time the included instructions were useful), and leveled/marked the holes on the wall.- I used a 1/4” masonry bit to drill all the holes because the anchors they provide were 1/4”- I then used a 5/16 bit to widen all the holes on the mounting brackets because the 1/4” sleeve anchors would not fit through for some godforsaken reason- I recommend a small mallet for settling the anchors so you don’t ding the rack trying to get a hammer in the tight spaces.Over all, it was a giant hassle but I’m really happy with the end product. I have a ton of black and silver in my place so the mixed metal doesn’t bother me, but you could paint (or sharpie) the flatheads if you preferred. Also, I know this has been said but this is a very heavy metal rack. You could not pay me enough to try this on drywall, even with a mounting board.
