updated from a previous model
I had to learn how to microwave all over. But in a good way. The operations are different from the last model. I also found the instruction booklet so easy to use! Many tips and how too's that improve the whole microwaving process. The presets are not in your face, so you have to learn where to turn your dial. I have my go-to #'s and I am still learning the machine in that respect. But it is the same brand as I previously had, and I really like the Panasonic. It appears the last one failed because of a door seal. I don't know it that could have been repaired or not. I am not a repair type of person when I can buy a new one. If the machine is a couple few years old, I say its time to replace. It is good looking and works nicely. The sensor setting cooks a little hot, but that may be because of the cover I use to cook with. I try to stop it early, especially in reheating pizza. good machine, the last one was as well and they are consistent with the newer one. Good job Panasonic!

Works well as a retrofit built in with custom trim kit
This item is a replacement for an 18 year old Dacor unit that finally failed. The Dacor was built in above my oven, and had a stainless trim kit around it. The Panasonic unit is superior to the Dacor, and is really well priced. The device works quite well. The inverter technology is an improvement for defrosting. I am hopeful it will last many years. My main reason for reviewing has to do with the trim kit for a retrofit. I ordered the recommended kit through Amazon from Panasonic. It is a lovely kit, but works very poorly as a retrofit to my current cabinet. It is unfortunate, since the kit could have been designed with adjustable mounts. But it is not. So, after some internet searching, I came upon microtrim.com. They make custom fits for any unit. I ordered on a Monday, and the custom kit arrived in 5 working days. It is very easy to install, and works well. Looks just fine. It is not as nice looking as the kit from Panasonic, but at least it fits properly!! I have included a photo.

... have had this unit for over 30 days and love it. It works very well
We have had this unit for over 30 days and love it. It works very well, has a very appealing look and is easy to use. Longer term I hope it hold up as some reviewers have stated issues. I will follow up if we have any concerns but so far this is a very nice machine. I purchased the frame installation kit and it looks great! We have a built in convection oven and the top was a built in microwave. When the unit broke we installed this microwave and it looks exactly like a built in should. Very pleased with this purchase, I know some questioned the knob but we like it, dial time hit start and it has worked well.

A good quality microwave oven
Good oven. Lots of room inside. Cooks much faster than my G.E. oven (two of them failed). Has a lot of complicated functions that I don't use like heat sensing from emitted steam. I wish it had a function to add time when the cooking process is in progress but the only way to do it is to reset the time and start again. My older oven would allow me to add or subtract time while it was cooking the food. Light weight. One other "wish" would be for it to have handle to open and close vs. getting fingerprints on the door. The door opens only with a push button. Overall, no complaints with its cooking ability. I've been using it for about 5 months and so far, so good.

Quality product and very roomy inside
Bought back in 2019 and still going strong. The extra interior size accommodates large dishes. Love this microwave so much I’m ordering a second one for another location. They have eliminated the dial which I prefer of the key pad but I’ll overlook that for this purchase.

Don't buy this if your neighbor has a pacemaker.
Pros: Huge capacity Easy to use Powerful Cons: The dial doesn't allow you to chose exact times. For example, when you turn the dial to select the time, it goes from 1:30 to 1:40. If you want to cook something for 1 minute and 35 seconds, you have to set it for 1:40 and stop it at 1:35. Update: I'm not sure if it's properly shielded. When the microwave is on, my Bluetooth ear buds go off kilter, even if im at the other end of the house. When it shuts off, they go back to normal. Update 2: screw this thing. I've reduced my rating to one star. When the microwave is turned on, it knocks my Roku off of the wifi from 40+ feet away, and I can't reconnect until the microwave is off. There is clearly a shielding problem. Buyer beware!

This is a vast improvement over my 2 year old LG
When my old Kenmore microwave died after 12 years of service I ran out to one of the home stores and bought a 2.2 cu/ft,1200 W, LG microwave. As soon as I got it home I realized there were some things I didn't like about it. 1. What kind of a moron designs a keypad with a black background and dark grey numbers/letters on the keypad? 2. The interior was a dark grey, making it almost impossible to tell if the interior was clean. 3. It was very heavy and very noisy. The fan drive was loud, and it made a loud clunk when the microwave kicked in. The turn-table made a clacking noise like the chain drive on a Massy Ferguson. 4. After just two years it would only work part of the time. Often we would have to start it three and four times just to heat up a cup of coffee. NOW, enter the Panasonic SD945S. 1. the keypad is easy to see. The rotating dial time selector is very easy to set. 2. The interior is a bright white with a very bright LED light which will make it very easy to clean. 3. It's quiet. 4. It cooks the food better. You can actually cook something without taking out halfway through the cooking cycle to stir it. (what a concept, a microwave that actually cooks) My wife loves the keep warm setting as I frequently don't drop everything I'm doing and run to the dinner table with her verbose declaration that dinner is ready. Overall this is a much better selection than it's poorly designed predecessor. PS If you like a partially working LG microwave for free, you'll find it sitting out by the curb waiting for the trash collector.

Go For It!!
I had already owned this same model but a few years ago. It was a bear. Great performer. Large enough to do what needs to be done. Not some tiny thing. Anyway sadly the microwave had an electrical issue and had to be put down. Fear not. I have its ashes in an urn on my mantle. I swore I would never buy another...how could I? It could never be the same...But I kept staring at that very large vacant spot and decided I had mourned long enough....it had been a couple hours. I thought why not replace it with its duplicate! Certainly it would have a different name but everything would be the same. Thanks to Amazon I have purchased the exact same model and love it as much as the first!! This MW is well worth your time and money.

An upgrade to whatever microwave you currently own.
1. The brushed steel looks great, and is easier to clean than just a stainless steel finish. 2. The large size will easily fit a chicken, or a 5kg. turkey. 3. Its 1250 watts microwave cooks much, much faster than a 1000 watt microwave. For example I eat a lot of frozen food entrees, and in the 1000 watt a meal would be about 6-9 minutes, these dishes now take no more than four minutes. Some concerns: it is not immediately apparent how to set the cooking time. Once you recognise the dial, it is so easy to set the time. It is complicated process to select power levels. Although it is a genius microwave, that will reheat by sensors, it is also not a an easy, or straightforward process. You will actually, NEED to read the manual.
