Aja, Elli and Alder--A Background Story
I love Pendragon and I love all of the characters. I accidentally read this before book 1, but with knowledge of the characters from all of the Pendragon books, it was just like visiting old friends. My only complaint is that it seemed very short for the price and I love the characters so much that I wanted more. Perhaps it was just the Kindle that made it seem so short. I don't know. For content I would give this book a 5 at it fulfills the curiosity Pendragon readers have about the characters' backgrounds as there are so many great characters and it is impossible to give as in-depth of a back story in the actual Pendragon series. For price I would give a rating of 3. I read a lot of YA books and it is not going to be wise for me to continue to spend 7 dollars a book when the publishers spent not a penny for paper and binding. Also, the description for each of the Before the War Series books is the same as the first one, which is why I didn't notice I had book 2 until I had almost finished it. This particular book features Aja Killian, Elli Winter and Alder. The stories are fun and just the right amount of back information. I think the Before the War series could have been combined to make one novel sized back story adventure, but maybe I am just greedy.DJ MacHale has done it again as his characters are fun and interesting. Thank you for writing another great piece to the series. Please kick the publishers for the ridiculous pricing and I think more people will read the Kindle version of this series.

Now I finally know the stories of the other travelers!
I've been wanting to know the stories of the other travelers, and now I do! These books (three in total) consists of the story of how everyone became, or came to the knowledge of being a traveler. The books are a fair length, though with each telling the story of three people, each person had a short story. Otherwise, I'd recommend this to any Pendragon fan!

A great read if you're into backstory
Justifying taking the time to read this series can be difficult if you have not read the Pendragon series, that being said, it is an intriguing book. The main gripe for some will be the lack of true danger. Yet if you are reading this series you aren't doing it for the danger, more to fill in the gaps between the individual travellers stories, which this book does well.

It's amazing
This entire series is one of the greates series that I have ever read. It gives a new way to look at our world and the possibilities of other worlds, a very well done story that follows through until the end.
