Did not work for me straight from the box
Had to contact Roofull before I could get my new Windows 10 laptop to recognise it. It is not as robust as I had hoped but it does come with a nice bag for storing/carrying it in. Arrived fairly quickly bearing in mind it came from the USA. Hopefully there will be no more hiccups.

Does what it says on the tin
Bought to supplement the disk drive on my lap top which is awkwardly placed and somewhat temperamental. It does the job and the mechanism is slightly more robust than the HP drive.

Can't read most of my CDs. USB cord us super short. They buy 5 star reviews
So firstly, an automatic star off because they buy 5 star reviews, this will obviously skew the reviews in their favor and I hate it when people or companies do this. If you can't get a legit 5 stars based on the quality of your product, without trying to buy a good review, then your product doesn't deserve 5 stars. Second, the USB cord is super short, it doesn't reach a single one of my ports so I had to make a pile of books under my screen to get it to the USBs on my monitor. Lastly, this drive will not read some of my disks. I got it for ripping CDs to my PC and it reads only about half my CDs. The disks are perfectly clean and read fine in every CD player and vehicle we have, this drive is the only thing that has problems reading them.Summary, Bad product with inflated review score due to paying for them. I cannot recommend this product.

Works Perfectly!
Took 3 days for my order to arrive. The external drive was packaged inside its black carrying case, which was packaged inside a handy re-sealable clear plastic pouch. I really appreciated having all of this extra padding because it's easy for electronics to get damaged in the mail.Set the unit on top of my space gray Mac Mini (2018) and plugged the USB 3.0 cable (which is hardwired into the base of the unit) directly into the back of the computer as per the manufacturer's instructions (NOTE: they say it likely won't work by plugging it into a hub... they are correct as I did try that later on just to see if it would or not). Pushed the eject button, inserted an old music CD and pushed the tray back in. Loaded up in seconds, imported the songs using the Apple Music App, then clicked the eject button on my screen to re-open the tray. Did a half-dozen discs this evening and it all worked perfectly! This unit is exactly what I was looking for, in the colour I was looking for, for the price I was looking for. No compatibility issues, no software, just plug n' play.I really like that:- the unit is black: it matches my computer setup.- it's extremely light and portable: I have a desk setup but anyone needing to take theirs on the go, no problem.- the tray is not motorized: less parts to break down over time and no CDs getting trapped inside.- the unit has a tiny hole to manually released the tray door if for some reason it will not open.- it cost $35, compared to $95 for a Mac Superdrive.- works perfectly on a Mac! I can still rip CDs using AAC encoding because the Mac handles all of that.- there's no software to load: plug and play! The only thing I'm not overly excited about is the USB 3.0 cable: it's short (but works for my setup thankfully) and it's hardwired into the base of the unit, so it cannot be detached. For $35 you've got nothing to lose if you need a unit like this to rip CDs, watch DVDs, etc.

The plug and play feature isn't activated until you insert a DVD or CD into the device
I used this DVD reader/player to copy home videos recorded on a DVD to export/convert them to an mp4 format. While the device indicates it is "plug and play", nothing happens when you attach the device to a USB port. I expected there would be some software that was installed and the device would show up as an external drive on the Finder of my iMac. It doesn't actually appear as an external drive until a DVD or CD is inserted in the tray and the tray is closed. Also, I found that the eject button doesn't always work reliably. Sometimes I have to unplug the device from the USB port and then plug it back in before the tray opens/ejects to access the DVD or CD to remove it from the tray.
