just what we needed
Bought this for my father since only the pack of two was available I guess I get one too. I gave him a tablet as a gift and we added some calling apps, it worked with out any headsets but he preferred some sort of headset or something rather than just talking at the tablet. I was looking at headsets but nothing really looked like something I wanted (in the under $10 price range), then I remembered these had come out a while back and I saw them in many stores at that time. Found many choices on amazon but decided to go with this V-Tech basic black model. I had a good experience with their cordless phones and the price was excellent. It works great and its a lot more comfortable than holding up a cell phone for an extended period. Very simple to use just plug into the 3.5mm jack and start talking. We used it a few times to test it with great results. Sound is clear on both ends. It's just a basic black telephone handset but that is exactly what we were looking for.

Better than holding smart phone to your ear
I keep one in each car. Better than holding smart phone to your ear, cuts out the road noise. The only downside is that when plugged into an iphone, when the phone rings it only rings in the earpiece and you may not hear it.

fits perfectly on a western electric wall phone; sounds great; super fun!
These are wonderful. Getting 2 was cheaper than getting 1, so I opted for the 2-pack. I have the handset on a black western electric wall phone (thank you online auction website) inside an authentic wooden phone booth from the 1950s or 1960s(!) in our apartment. I hang the plug end of this handset on a 3m command hook on the side of the phone, so it looks like this handset is connected to the phone. When you want to make or receive a call, go into the phone booth, plug the handset into the headphone, pick up the handset, and voila, instant time travel to a pre-cell phone time. Sound quality is great. It was scratchy the first time we plugged it in, but since then, no problems. I may put the extra one in our car so passengers can "talk" on the phone. One thing is that because there is no mechanical earpiece or microphone in the handset like the "real" ones have, this handset is much lighter than a real, western electric handset. So, don't expect the heft of the old-fashioned handset. But, truly, this handset is awesome. If you can get an old phone to rest it on like I did, it really completes the effect.

Feels like a toy, so not thrilled with cheap quality, but it does work to use for calls and therefore reduces radiation, so ok.
Very lightweight, cheap feeling plastic, but it does the job. I can hear clearly, though volume cannot be turned loud, so background has to be a little quieter to hear well. Callers so far have said they can hear me clearly as well. Pick up doesn't work - I have to actually dial and connect call on my phone, but the disconnect feature works just fine and disconnects the call as soon as I press it. It's definitely NOT nine feet long, however. The furthest I can stretch the cord, and I mean really stretching it to where the coiled part is completely straight, is only just under six feet, so be aware of this if you purchase. That element was a little disappointing, because I wanted to connect the phone, leave the phone on a surface away from me, and then move with the handset to a chair or couch, etc. However, it is so lightweight, that it stays within a foot of the phone unless I put the phone down and just hold the cord stretched out. The only way to get this away from the phone for use will be to attach the mobile to something that will hold on to it, and then move with the handset to force it to stretch out. Not sure if that makes sense, but this doesn't move and stretch like the heavier weighted, old fashioned cords used to. I plan to check to see if I can remedy this by putting something slightly weighted on the cord at various points, to help it not spring back into the coil automatically. Otherwise, if I walk away from the counter with the handset, it pulls the phone off the countertop with it...It's still better than having to hold the phone close to my head or in my hand on speaker, so I am happy with the purchase because I know radiation is reduced, but hope they come out with one that is weighted like a real phone handset, because this feels like a little kid's toy.

Defective product that could damage your cell phone.
This product was totally unsatisfactory . Gave it to my dad who has hearing aids to help him with his cell phone. It did not help it even messed up their phone. They had to restart their phone several times before the phone worked correctly. Would have returned the two phone I got but I mailed one to my parents sending the one I have and the other would require having my parent to mail the thing back to me costing they to put more money into a defective product. Very sad. Was really hoping to help out my dad.
