Is this returnable? We have tried to find someplace local that sold it so we could look at it before buying but having been able to find one local.

It is not like a turn table. The circle does not spin. The circle follows the path underneath the board. The curve actually helps especially for transfers to a car. I could find transfer boards at any Home Healthcare store, but never a beast board.

Is 27.5," 32" or 40" best for bed/commode/wheelchair/car transfers? Or do we need 2? If so which? Wheelchair has removable side.

For bed and commode the 32" will suffice but you would need the 40" to transfer to the car. One thing though, be aware when you get it because I had to send mines back. It doesn't slides as easy as they show in the commercial. It might work for you but if it doesn't don't waste any time to send it back, and do not throw the packaging away cause you might need it. I bought a regular wood sliding board and worked better for me. Good luck.
