9Bach made their name by taking traditional Welsh folk songs and recasting them onto a spectral and haunting sound canvas. Their 2014 album Tincian was the worthy winner of the coveted Best Album in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015. New album Anian, whilst influenced by the Welsh traditions, comes from an altogether more anarchic place - calling for change, questioning the world and the role we play, how we treat animals and disregard nature. Darker in themes, but not without a sense of hope. Ethereal female Welsh language vocals shimmer alongside harp, swamp guitar, dub beats and a pounding rhythm section. The double CD package includes companion CD "In dy lais" / "In your voice". Writers, actors, poets and singers give their own interpretations of the songs as a way to convey the meaning to a non-Welsh speaking language. Includes contributions from Peter Gabriel, Maxine Peake and Rhys Ifans.

il me faut chaque fois un temps d'adaptation car chaque nouvel opus de ce groupe est très différent des précédents ! puis j'adore...!!!le 1er plus traditionnel, le 2e plus engagé et plus sombre, ce 3e plus mélancoliquej'apprécie l'album des parolesque 4* car je ne comprends pas bien l'intérêt du 2e disque parlé dans le packageje reste une inconditionnelle de ce groupe

What a wonderful surprise this CD is. A hidden gem.
What a treat for the ears. Beautiful sounds and wonderful arrangements. I caught an interview on Radio 4 recently where some of the tracks were played (purely by chance) and the first thing I did once stopped was to pop onto my Amazon app and order it. Mesmerising stuff.

Absolutely brilliant. Tincian (their last album) was really good, this is even better!. 9Bach fully deserve much wider recognition; just wish they'd do a gig in Bristol. Superb singers, really thoughtful musicians.
