Bonide SEDGE ENDER CONC 1 PT

So far, I am really impressed by Sedge Ender. The product is a thick yellow substance, that I mixed in a gallon pump sprayer. I've made 4 gallons so far and still have some product left in the bottle, so a little goes a long way. About 4-5 days after first application, the yellow nutsedge withered and turned brown. A week later I went back out and applied another treatment to the areas I missed. I'll plan to do another treatment in two weeks to ensure the sedge doesn't sprout back up. Hopefully this product does a good job of killing the tubers so new plants can't grow. Only time will tell but so far, I'm happy with the purchase. ***Update*** I am purchasing this again since it worked so well for me in the past. If you have nutsedge, you might as well know it's a battle you will fight for YEARS. There's almost no way to completely eradicate it--it can sprout new plants many times from the same "nutlet" so you might think you've killed the plant but it will resprout several times before it finally runs out of energy and dies. For this reason, I also pay to have my lawn professionally treated each year, which gives it a good start in killing the nutsedge. The company I use guarantees treatment for the entire growing season so they will come back and reapply treatment as new growth appears, but I use Sedge Ender to spot treat as soon as I see new sedge pop up so it doesn't get too tall before the weed company comes back out. This stuff grows so fast that it will be taller than my bermuda in just one day. I use it especially in my plant beds and along the foundation. This is my 3rd year aggressively going after nutsedge so I'm hoping after a couple more years the battle won't be as fierce. Only time will tell, but this product is a great weapon in your arsenal. I also learned that it kills my other nemesis--poa annua. So keep this on hand year-round for winter grassy weeds (poa annua) and nutsedge as it pops up when the weather gets warmer.

This product works as described. We use it in our flower beds and it works very well. I can't comment on using this on lawns, but the results we get in our beds should also be the same on lawns. This product kills the nutsedge down to the underground bulb, and it keeps the sedge from returning. This product works slowly to kill the plant, it took about a week to totally wipe them out. The product is in concentrated form and is a good value for the price. Give it a try, I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Best yard in 3 years, finally found something to take out nutgrass and allow grass to fill back in. Selectively I have been split hitting with tank sprayer problem areas allowing seeded areas to come in. Looks like I will give a 2nd treatment soon to further kill off sick weeds. I have also some hose based product ready to go if needed after newer seed comes in on rest of yard. Just bought a back pack 3 gal battery powered sprayer for yard and trees. Great worthwhile purchase Update, still using, buying more for 2nd treatment in middle of May 2024. Early Spring in Indiana, at it early but this year have a 3 gallon backpack sprayer to spot spray 2 acres . So much easier now! Used 21 gallons today, more than ready to win this war once more ammunition arrives from Amazon 🥷. Update, seeing good results, started out using a 12-12-12 fertilizer 6 weeks ago to help build roots, have spot sprayed with my battery powered sprayer, going a 3rd time for new spots not previously visible. So far with my time at little cost with the ease of this sprayer over 2 1/2 acres. …….. Getting my exercise.

This will be somewhat lengthy but please bear with me. I removed all of the grass/turf in my front yard and went with xerascaping/native plants and had no idea the turf I was removing was actually nutsedge, so I was not happy to see it all growing back once the landscaping had been done. I did my research all over the internet and even reading University Horticulture departments research studies on this obnoxious weed. I discovered: 1. The only products to have measured success in killing nutsedge is Sedgehammer Plus and Bonide Sedgender. Nothing else works long term. 2. Sedgehammer Plus kills both yellow and purple nutsedge, but Bonide kills only the purple nutsedge; so it's important to know which type you have. You can find out how anywhere on the internet googling nutsedge. 3. It grows through anything, even concrete, but there is a weed barrier that has more success than most in university studies. It's a nonwoven spunbonded polypropylene. The emerging nutsedge shoots have trouble punching through the tangled mat of fibers in this type of barrier. Dupont Typar 307 and 312 (3 oz. per square yard weight) rated the most effective in a university trial. I could never find that product but if you google spunbonded polypropylene you should find some alternative. I haven't bothered with the weed barrier, because the infestation was so bad it would have been a waste. Everything I read said to eradicate the infestation first. And yes, infestation was the word used by everyone describing this weed! 4. Depending on the level of infestation it will take diligent herbicide treatments for 2-3 years! Be prepared for a long war. 5. The Sedgehammer takes longer to kill the weeds, but works better getting to the roots. Bonide is quicker, but doesn't get down to the roots as well. 6. You really need both products. Don't wait the 10-14 days between treatments because this weed grows so quickly you'll miss the new tubers coming up through the soil and once it has 5 "grass" blades on it it's growing cycle has slowed substantially, so the herbicide won't be sucked into the plant as fully as you want. You need to spray them when they are small with only 2-3 blades on the it. 7. I spent 7 weeks last fall alternating each week between the Sedgerhammer Plus and Bonide and I actually eradicated a large swath of the infestation. 8. I knew it would be back and sure enough it was this spring, but less than 1/2 of what it had been before. So, I started again and it's working, but it takes a lot of work, consistent spraying and really both products to kill it. 9. So, be prepared for the expense. Good luck!

I bought this because I have had surgery that had taken over in some areas of my lawn. This has worked well at controlling the surgery and crabgrass. It doesn't work like Roundup. You need to put this on at the beginning of the season before the surgery grows and it will keep it in check. For the little bit I have had come up I have sprayed it using a spray bottle for just those spots. It doesn't kill it immediately. Allow it to take the time to work.
