LEUCHTTURM1917PEKA Springback Binder (Pacific Green) - Holds 150 Sheets of Paper

Does the 1” refer to the height of the paper it will hold? I have a manuscript that is roughly 1” thick, will this binding fit?

I don’t know how to open this binder. I don’t want to break them. Please help! Thank you.
