Dungeon Master: Hot Later-in-Life Romance (Dungeons and Doms Book 1)

Golden Angel writes BDSM/kink romances. (OK, and some works in other genres).In the BDSM Romance genre, the norm is people in their 20s in great physical shape (and usually truly amazing sexual endurance) building a relationship (sometimes whether they really wanted to or not). This book is different. Gavin and Leah are in their 50s. Their child is grown and off on his own (in one of Golden Angel's other series -- Masters of Marquis). Their relationship had fallen apart and they are now divorced. They still are connected by a weekly D&D game (big surprise, Gavin is the DM). They also occasionally play in Gavin's BDSM club (where, yeah, again, Gavin is the DM).Gavin gets inspired (by the example of two characters in a different series -- Dad Bod Doms) to win his ex-wife and ex-sub back to him. This book is the process of that pursuit. And, sure, there is a happily-ever-after.It is a low-key book in some ways. There certainly is tension and drama and conflicts on the rocky road to reconciliation. But the conflicts are kept not too theatrical. Some readers might not like that approach, but, well, we *are* talking about two intelligent people in their 50s. They have deep passions but understand... perspective. The nuances of running this genre with mid-life people are there but (thankfully) not overplayed. Gavin needs help when supporting his endorphin-flying sub after a scene -- he can't just sweep her into his arms and carry her off without some assistance. Leah can gracefully sink to her knees -- but getting back up is more challenging.Yes there is sex. And damn hot sex. And yes there is kink. So if you want a "clean" romance, this book will not be for you. But the erotica is completely subordinate to the personalities and the story line.I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this story about a second chance at first love. Gavin and Leah have been divorced for 10 years but have maintained an exclusive friends with kinky benefits relationship. Now they both want more - Gavin wants to win back Leah, and Leah is ready to date again and hopefully start a serious relationship with someone new. Gavin has been going to therapy in order to understand why his marriage failed the first time, and has made changes in his attitude. The sex was never the problem, it was the whole relationship - shared activities, appreciation, respect and good consistent communication. Leah still loves Gavin, but she is afraid to risk her heart again. A story of a mature couple, with good character building, plenty of heat (yes, kids, older folks can still bring it) and a HEA. And that cover!

When marriages go bad there is always finger pointing. When it is between a bdsm couple yet another layer is torn. Why then do these two people still scene, years later, almost exclusively? Is there a language not get explored, a trust that was not totally torn? And what happens when one is still attached to the other and that final connection- bdsm- might be also lost? My love for this book is even greater because the people are more my age, bodies that have aged, get creaky, and even the issue of dry vaginas. thank you. Characters who speak to my generation. Love love love the characters and all the interactions and missteps.

This is Gavin and Leah’s story. It’s relatable which makes it more special, in my opinion. It has a full range of emotions and will keep you wanting to flip those pages. Reading always soothes me but this story got me through a rough couple of days. This author can make me laugh regardless of what’s going on in my head. That ending though, gah I cannot wait for Dungeon Daddy!!

This is a really great second chance romance between a formerly married older couple. They have an adult child, a currently hook up only relationship and more past baggage than the lost and found at an airport terminal. Will they get back together with a little help or is it really too little too late? Another well done start of series already looking forward to the next.

This book shows how different communication styles can lead to misunderstandings that snowball into bigger problems. It also shows how two people who love each other can work to change that. And yes, there are still some hot scenes - even if the knees are creaky in the over 50 set!

I loved this story. Gavin may be Dungeon Master in more ways than one (I want to befriend the puppy) but he’s got some groveling to do to win back his ex-wife. I liked that this story features older couples who still (gasp) have sex.

Story was just as promised. Lots of emotions and not kinky relationship based sex. Very nice. Hope next two books in series are just as good

No plot spoilersNo potential triggersThe characterisation is fantastic, especially with the opportunity to see both points of view.The journey made by this older couple to understand themselves and each other is funny and sad and totally heart warming.There are some BDSM sex scenes and some swearing.This author is on my automatic purchase list and has never let me down.There are a couple of editorial and grammatical errors that are jarring but they are nowhere near enough to kill the book.Usually if there are errors I would reduce the rating but the book is so engaging I felt justified in giving five stars.I really want to read Jax's story immediately!

I really enjoy Golden Angel’s books and this one was just as good. I really liked Gavin when he appeared in Bondage Buddies and his quest to win over the woman he loves always had the making of a wonderful story.I love the dynamics in this book, from the mixed friendship group, female friendships to the romantic relationships. There were lots of moments in the book to cherish and also to laugh about.It was also lovely to have older main characters who are growing older ‘disgracefully’ or just in a way that is true to themselves. The obsession of younger is better that often appears as a narrative in the media or on tv and in films is challenged beautifully in this book. Older or younger isn’t better just different and both should be celebrated and experienced fully. I’m excited to find out what Jax and Esther’s story has in store.

I was intrigued with Mitch’s parents when we met them in Bondage buddies and it was wonderful to have a story all about them. Also very interesting to see the Outlands which we saw in a Dad bod Dom’s book.I loved the fact that they were a bit older and still had a satisfying sex life! Very true to life.I am really looking forward to the next book as I always am with Golden Angel.You can guarantee an amazing story that draws you in and doesn’t let go, even after the last page as you always want more with this wonderful author!Thank you!

This is a new author to me and I'm really glad I bought this book.Told from the POV of both characters Master Gavin and his ex wife Leah.Older and wiser, they now both realise that they were both at fault for their marriage falling apart.Throughly enjoyed reading this story, likeable characters, enjoyable storyline and loved the HEA.

Well written, thought out and reaserched - as ever from Golden Angel. Good that it's written about relationships in later life. Great story and also hot. I couldn't put it down once I'd started. Impatiently awaiting the next in the series. Oh and no spoilers here.
