Decoart Americana Duraclear Varnish 8oz High Gloss

I use this for rock painting. It’s the only varnish I use. There are matte, satin, glossy and extra or super glossy. There is also one called Triple thick. I’ve purchased all of them. I use the satin and glossy the most. Dries quickly. I’ve applied it with a soft brush as well as my finger at times. They all dry smooth but be careful with the triple thick. Make sure you cover everything the first time without using too much. Don’t go back and add any more u til it is completely dry. If it’s put on too thick it will run down the sides. It’s best to do a couple of coats rather than thick. That’s with all of the formulas. The varnish helps protect the rocks from damage as well as sun and weather. My rocks are not usually kept outside so I don’t know how long they would be safe outside. Definitely longer than mod podge as that’s not a varnish. I feel this brand is very inexpensive for me because I do not have to use much. I go through the triple thick faster because it is so thick. I use it for gift rocks for smaller kids who might drop them a lot. I don’t know how well they would do if dropped on the cement. I’ve not experienced that. I feel they are all durable and dry fast but give the triple thick a little more time because it is thicker obviously. I’ve also used the satin on canvas over acrylic once I know the paint is dry. Usually wait for one day to be sure. It works great! Also easy to apply with a brush.

Still the best varnish hands down. Dries fast and does not yellow. Super clear and extremely high shine. Never fails for me.

I have used this varnish for a wide variety of projects: furniture, art work, craft projects, etc. I volunteer with a group of cancer patients and am always leery of using things that have fumes or anything that might be irritating. The Duraclear has been awesome, and I appreciate the fact that it dries quickly. The ladies in the group have time to put two or three coats on their projects. The shiny coats also definitely enhance the final projects, as well as give them protection. It's the best!

Great product would definitely purchase again

Easy to use and easy to clean. I used this varnish to seal these wall switch on and off covers. 3 coats and they look super shiny. I don’t recommend for sealing coasters but sometimes I seal the napkin that decorates the back of the decorated cutting board which is a napkin. The high gloss varnish Duraclear is the best.

This is my “Go to” project varnish. It’s easy to use, goes on smoothly. It dries fairly quickly, leaving a clear finish. I can wash my brush out with soap and water, which is a huge plus. I love this product.

As an avid crafter you are always looking for a great products. DuraClear is perfect for the glitter ornaments. You use very little and the end result is incredible. There is no clumping, no missed spots, and dries relatively quick.

I wish this product wouldn’t cause some of the paint to bleed. I Use a light coat of another product to stop that. Then I use Duraclear to finish sealing my art. This product is a great value for the money.

Great product. Easy to apply with brush or airbrush. The self leveling even with a brush is the best feature.
