This Mount ROCKS!!!!!!!!
Listen folks! I totally love this set up! It worked perfect for my Trophy 126 Kayak 10 feet. Looked at every You tube video possible about ways to add a Trolling motor to a kayak, they all involved going to the hardware store and getting all kinds of stuff, PCV nuts and bolts and, Screw it! Until I saw this set up, I was like now that’s what I’m talking about! I’m a Eagle Photographer and I don’t have time for all that build it yourself crap! This set up worked perfect, I’m 63 years old and I have been kayaking since my days serving the Military, I love kayaking and I go everywhere between Ohio and Pennsylvania, this bracket sat right down into my rod holders, I attached a 36lb thrust trolling motor to it which did make my kayak a bit too heavy on that side of the Kayak, BUT! I also have a 45 lb Deep Cycle Marine Battery that balanced things off with it positioned near the front of my kayak and on the opposite side of the trolling motor, this perfectly balanced my kayak, and with my 200 pounds in the center, I have been enjoying the Heck out of my Kayak so far this year, you do have to place the straps onto the bracket and the kayak to help with any stability, when you kick that trolling motor into gear 5, Wow! The bracket is holding up very well and I’m zooming through the lakes and rivers, and other kayakers are in envy of me passing them up LOL, this is a great product and I totally recommend it.

Good solid build.
Good solid build from first impressions. I'm fitting this unit on my Native slayer Propel 10 using a 20lb thrust Haswing motor which has only 24" shaft. My motor is a bit too high from looking at it to where the waterline would be. Will have to test it out on the lake and report back.It would be perfect for a 30": shaft Minn Kota but will double the weight of the motor I want.If I can suggest a modification or a design change in the future.....allow the flat mount to be inverted, hanging from the bottom as well. 2 option design. This would be perfect for shorter shaft motors. .Otherwise I like the design, solid build and setup. Thank you.Update: I tested out in the lake and it produced too much cavitation as the motor was still too high. I took the mount apart and saw an easy fix. I drilled the 3 holes opposite and reinstalled it. Now it's much lower. Brocraft: your mount will work on the bottom side now. You just need to add the 3 holes. This will now fit the native watercraft propels with the 24" shaft. See before and after pics. The mount is solid and looks really nice.

Love the track -
This brocraft mount is an excellent solution to get a motor on your kayak. The rack really requires the straps to secure it. I wish the geared knobs were a bit stronger. I came very close to losing all my rods a couple times, when the straps were not tightened to the maximum possible the rack folded back against the torque of a 30lb thrust MK. I took relatively good care of it while I used it, I didn’t dare haul the Yak with the motor on the mount. Chances are that would have caused damage to either the kayak or the mount . What I like most about the mount - I cut the motor seat off, and I use it as a rack only now , it’s really handy, and a little different, which in the kayak bass fishing world most of the products everyone uses are typical, so it’s nice to have a unique setup . I wish I could buy just the aluminum track , perhaps in different lengths ? I think they could capitalize off that track , it’s durable , and can be used to do an incredible amount of modifications to any kayak - which people need more of.

Decent mount but aluminum is too weak for 55lb thrust
Overall a decent mount, but as other reviewers noted, the adjustments that allow for exact angling of the mount once placed, also make it harder to tighten down and lock into place permanently. As well, the tie down straps should be longer, to give more leverage, otherwise that too is somewhat hard to tighten - nylon is slipper against metal brackets and plastic kayaks. And yes, the mounting plate is hollow, which is good for weight (hanging a motor off the side is already an imbalance) but bad for really cranking a strong motor into place (though admittedly you shouldn’t have to).The thing I don’t see mentioned that I’ve experienced is the aluminum bar the mount plate attaches to can *torque* and *twist* vs. its anchors, which basically means that the plate will start out straight up and down but over time it’s going to start to bend backwards (I have a shorter kayak appropriate motor, so I have the plate hanging down from the bar). The aluminum bar is just not strong enough to handle the thrust/torque of a stronger motor (55lb thrust) in the long term. In fact, I might even say the short term - I’ve had only 3 full days worth of time out on the water and it’s already happened to me. Major bummer. If you have a bigger motor, look for something stronger.

Not for ocean use and 3hp motors
This is a high-quality mount for perhaps lake cruising with minimal water surge and pressure. It was not able to handle a medium surge day (5ft swells at 10 seconds) in Maui with my Spirit 3hp or electric 1000-watt motor. On the first sail out, the plastic part broke. I was told by technicians of island hopper that the combination of ocean surge and powerful torque of my motor was too much for the plastic parts on this motor mount when used with my Hobie Tandem Island. Hoping that the product island hopper has tested thousands of times on the TI will be able to withstand the waters, winds, swells and torque in Maui or I have to get a local metal fabricator to make a custom version for me. I imagine that this product will work great in a lake environment for just trolling.
