This little book has supplementary stories from Familia Romana. Some of them have some very funny parts! Orberg was not only a Latin scholar, evidently, he was also a good storyteller. The little stories reinforce grammar from FR and provide backstory to the material in FR. You get a "behind the scenes" look at what else happened when the doctor came to see Quintus, or what befell Medus en route to Rome, etc. I'm surprised at how much life Orberg was able to breathe into these characters that I've only ever met in a foreign language, and this book continues that process. I've been told it is important to get exposure to Latin everyday for the most effective learning, and these little stories are a painless way to get in a few pages when you have five minutes to kill. Usually though, I end up reading more than one story at a time, just because they are kind of fun and easy to read (at least once you've read the relevant FR chapter). I would certainly recommend this as an excellent companion to the FR series, and a good supplement in general to provide some everyday Latin exposure.
