Pet Piller For Dogs and Cats

Received the good one.
I just received the one with the soft pliable tip. It's navy, not aqua, but it's definitely the good one. The plunger works well, and exactly matches the plunger on an old one I'm still using that I bought several years ago, but which is showing signs of wearing out (the rubbery tip eventually gets weak and can't grip the pill). I had bought two back then, with a reddish tip, and the first one lasted a long time with constant use.I'd been looking but couldn't find the ones I'd bought before, and I read too many reviews here complaining about receiving ones with a stiff tip that splits, so I decided that my vet must have a good one (about $7). It was terrible: the plunger seemed to be the same type, but it was very stiff to use, and the rubbery tip (navy) was much less pliable, and one side of it split within days of starting to use it. I decided to take a chance with this one on Amazon, and I'm happy - I'm going to order a couple more as backups.

Poor Quality - Not as good as previously. AVOID!
I initially purchased this piller several years ago and this is the second time I purchased this piller. I went into my order history and clicked the purchase item again button. I was very surprised with what I received in the mail the second time as it was not the same as before. I don't know if mine was defective or if quality has indeed gone downhill, but here is a description of what I received. The interior of the entire barrel was coated with some type of sticky glue-like material. I was able to clean it from the plunger shaft but could not completely clean the barrel interior making it very difficult to slide the plunger back and forth. The rubber tip was completely solid as received. Normally there is a little hole and the sides have a slit so it can gently "hug" pills that you insert into the piller. I attempted to carve it out do discover some other issues with the piller. The rubber was not as soft as before so this stiffness made it difficult for the piller to hold onto pills. The second thing I discovered was that the diameter of the plunger tip was smaller than the previous piller I had purchased. Due to that my smaller pills kept sliding between the barrel wall and plunger shaft. I didn't attempt returning since I had to carve my own slit & hole into the rubber tip and ended up throwing the piller in the trash. Unfortunately, I didn't think to try tocapture any images for this review. Be wary of purchasing this piller. In my n=2 purchase experience, it is not as good as once was.

Rubber tip holds the pills!
I have an old cat that I have to give 6 pills a day to! Ugh! I was have all sorts of problems, she would run when she heard me coming, wriggle and bite, it was tramatic for both of us. I started researching and found the piller demonstrated online and quickly bought one that was availbable to ship right away and this one that I had to wait a few days for. I ordered them both. The first one came and the tip was hard and did not hold the pills, garbage, absolutely worthless. The second one came and is a miracle!!! The tip is soft rubber with slits cut in it so it hold any size pills IN PLACE! Look no further, BUY THIS ONE! You can put the pills in it (I put 2 at a time) and even put a little sour cream on the tip to make it a more pleasant experience for your fur baby!

Did not work for my dog.
It is great for small pills, but the large pills would not fit in the slot. However, my dog clamps her mouth shut, so the pill popper does not work for her.

Rubber end tip hole very small
Once I modified the end tip with a razor blade it worked fine , until I did that even the smallest pill for my kitty couldn’t fit in the rubber end tip

So helpful!
We use these all the time in veterinary medicine to help our furry friends take their much-needed medications. Now, I need one at home for my elderly dog to take his pain pill. It can be helpful to snip into the rubber tip a little bit with a small pair of scissors so that there is a split. That way, you can fit larger pills into the end and it makes the medication administration go much easier.

Sticks and not what’s pictured
I’ve had these before, they looked like the picture with the light blue tip. They were awesome and easy to use. Created no stress for my cats. The one I received had a dark blue tip- not something that would usually bother me; however my experience makes me feel it matters here due to inconsistency in what’s pictured vs delivered. The item I received, with the dark blue tip, sticks and that has gotten in the way of me successfully pilling my cats stress-free. It’s created failed attempts that cancel or the purpose of buying this in the first place. Faulty and disappointing.

Best popper for the price! Same one sold to me from Vet at 1/3 rd the cost!
This is the best and I have had to use 4 different brands... I just replaced a 4 year old popper due to age and the end was accidently steped ona nd broke off...There's a trick to making any of these work, hold dog or cat from above and behind. Use one hand to hold head of your pet and in the other slip the popper in from side and into center of the BACK of your pets mouth/tounge/throat... and not hard or in a jabbing way, just slip in it and then pop the pill popper's end and pill is past where you pet can spit it out..It takes have dexterity, yes you need to hold the pill popper with one hand, slip it in from the side of your pets mouth and thenwith a free finger push the end in and pop the pill into the back of your pets mouth!Forgive your seld if it take a week or tow or three to get good at it. the cat we have now fusses a bit and if I am not careful he can still gum the pill and spit it out and I've poped 100's of pills for different pets over the yraes as out friends got old and needed meds. The sell is great, the shipping was slow, but could have been the USPS, so I can just say that the price is right and the product is very good.
