will they fit crayons?

They are a little narrow for crayons. I just tried cramming a standard crayola crayon through there, and the holders strip the paper from the crayon. I doubt that you will be able to cram them on without breaking the crayon.These are perfect only for standard lead pencils (works great) and skinny ballpoint pens.

What about the fat kindergarten pencil?

No- they won't fit on that. They are even pretty hard to get on regular pencils, but then once they are on, they can't be pulled off- which is a good thing 

Do these grips fit regular pencils?

Yes. The Classic Triangle Pencil Grips do fit regular pencils. They are to help teach how to hold a pencil, when someone is learning how to write.

Thinking about getting these for my grandma with arthritis. Would these work well or are they hard?

I think pencils aren't the same size (around) as they were some years back. They used to work so well. I have Parkinson's and I need assistance holding pencils when I write. The package I purchased did nothing for me, they slipped off the pencil and would not hold on any pencil I could find. I would not recommend them for purchase for anyone. Sorry
