Excellent gear
Love this combo. Just used it over memorial weekend for the first time and was pulling in fish left and right. Very smooth reel and the rod is very sensitive.

“Great Reel for Bass Fishing!”
The Abu Garcia Pro Max is smooth, lightweight, and perfect for bass fishing. Casting is effortless, and the drag handles strong fighters with ease. It feels solid and reliable—great performance without breaking the bank. Definitely a go-to in my tackle box!

Great Just Tweak These Settings First
Helpful Tips for New Guys (like me): Learn how to properly configure the reel using proper drag, tension, and break. Lower drag so the line doesn't dig in while casting. Turn the break up almost all way, and turn the tension knob up almost all way. Choose the lure you plan to cast, hold the rod horizontal and hit the release button. If it doesnt fall adjust the tension, if it falls fast adjust the tension to make it fall really slow. Lure should fall really slow. After all that is done and the lure is falling slow (it takes 2-3 sec to hit ground), then you can make a few test cast. Be prepared to respool if you are just learning how to use a baitcaster, we did 2x. This means just put enough line on to make test cast, and save the rest for later.Did lots of research and for the price this combo seems to stand alone as the only choice. That being said the black max, and silver max offered by Abu Garcia (thats just a cool name), are probably even better choices for the money. There are much better reels out there but they cost $100 - $400 for just the reel alone. This reel seems to cast pretty far with monofilament, but cast a great distance with some 15lb braid. All in all happy, so happy I just ordered a 2nd one to keep on the boat. Great idea as it takes awhile to put a new lure on and make sure tension and break are set proper.Im a very pragmatic simple guy. The baitcaster set up properly is simply better for me and my 9 yo son than a spincast. Thanks

Left handed reel
The description and picture shows right handed reel, but the reel is left handed.
