Mad Catz Xbox 360 HDMI and Analog AV Adapter for Headsets

If you're reading this review, you've probably read some of the other $2 adapter reviews as well and like me were scared off by the horror stories of having to solder the wires in order for the adapter to work properly with the Xbox 360. This adapter does not have any of those issues. I have a 250HDD Xbox 360 S which I run HDMI to a projector 20 feet away. The Xbox itself is down under the screen near a stereo that I wanted to run the audio to. This cable was perfect to allow me to connect the audio to the stereo with analog red and white RCA to the stereo's RCA input. There was absolutely no hassle for this adapter. I just plugged everything in, turned on the Xbox, and it was working perfectly. The price is considerably more than the other knock offs but it won't break the bank and it will work like a charm.

But it's not perfect. It does successfully provide both RCA and digital optical audio to use in conjunction with the Xbox 360's HDMI output, but as others have noted, it does indeed cause the Xbox 360 to reset if you turn your TV or monitor on and off or switch the input from another source back to the Xbox. While a lot of people won't be bothered by this, it's a flaw I would say isn't worth paying $20 for. You're better off either paying more for the Microsoft connector which is guaranteed not to have this flaw, or getting a much cheaper version that works just as well as the Mad Catz. It's also worth noting that with the Mad Catz connector, you cannot jump the connectors like you can with the cheaper versions. I opened this up to see if I could fix the resetting problem by soldering some of the connectors, but this version simply doesn't have the metal tabs to solder, it only has them for the wires that are already in place, which actually makes the flaw MORE problematic than with the cheaper versions. The only reason to get this version is if you don't intend to switch TV or monitor inputs while using it, and if you want to get the slightly higher-quality plastic and connectors (for $14-$18 more!). I ended up getting a cheaper version so that I could fix the resetting problem (which I successfully did in about 10 minutes and only had to pay the price of taping the casing back together) and unfortunately wasted the money on this one.

I bought this because I wanted to continue using my Skullcandy SGS headset but because I am running an HDMI cable to the TV it was impossible, so after reading an online forum that stated this worked great I decided to order it. It took a minute to install, I have been using it a few hours now and no issues. I did not have to do any adjustments to the settings and I did not have the issue with the HDMI cable and this adapter being too tight like others have mentioned. Overall the sound quality is great, and I didnt have to turn up the volume or anything. Overall I am very impressed at how easy this was to install. True definition of plug and play.

This is an easy product to review. It does exactly what it says it will do and it does it just fine when I am using my Turtle Beach x12 headset. I had absolutely no problem hooking it up as I knew right where it was supposed to go. The most difficulty I had was getting it out of the packaging but that is not a downfall at all.For those of you needing a product like this, the $20 is well spent as Mad Catz has a generally good reputation and has survived for years selling products like this.

Buyer beware! This adapter does not fit with all HDMI cables, so make sure your HDMI cables have ends which do not have bulky casing (more cables do than don't).

This product is compatible with any x-box 360 system, including the new slim edition. This product will work with any turtle beach wireless Bluetooth headset and provide good sound with no interference. I was skeptical at fist, because of how badly all of the other similar products listed on amazon have worked. But like I said, this product is the real deal and turtle beach's website is currently out of any similar models. So go ahead with this Mad Catz version. I have all the newest equipment and it works with everything with still allowing HDMI connection. Solid buy.

Works good, had to shave some plastic off to get the hdmi cable to plug it in next to it.
