Hidden Mate: The Wolf Born Trilogy, Book 1

College-bound wolves
Immediately, we discover that Sadie has been allowed, by her father, to attend Kortright University, a school that has its fair share of supernaturals in attendance, and her one stipulation is that she has to bring her intended - Brock - with her to watch out for her. Hers is that she gets to bring her best friend Roxy. It won't be easy to fight off Brock, but he's not her fated mate, though he is the one her father has required she marry to form an alliance between the families. Though she can be mouthy at times, something her father doesn't appreciate, she is also a bit more timid than I like my heroines to be. Still, it's a great place to start because it gives her so much room to grow that she can't help but blossom throughout the story.Yet, when Donovan enters the picture, all bets are off. Sure, he's attractive, and she can't help but be drawn to him. But he's also forbidden because he's human, and interspecies mating is against the rules. As he begins popping up at the most inopportune times, including in her classes, she discovers he is attracted to her too. While she makes new friends (of the vampire and dragon variety), she begins noticing the strange way Brock is acting and how hate-filled he is. Donovan doesn't seem to have that problem, which makes for some interesting and humorous interaction.Though they each fight the attraction, their bond continues to form and strengthen. When circumstances push them closer together, all hell breaks loose, and secrets none of them could have predicted come out, turning everyone's worlds upside down and putting them all in danger.Sadie continues to become stronger the further the story continues, and with the help of her smart-mouthed friend Roxy, she also overcomes obstacles she never saw coming. It makes for a story that has many exciting moments and a cliffhanger that leaves readers hungry for the next book.

I want my time back
I gave this book 2 stars because I did finish it. I thought it had promise but I was wrong. The only interesting character in the entire book was Egan, the dragon shifter. The book was just so poorly written. These kids go to college. Not long after they arrive they come across a dead girl. To hide supernatural involvement, they throw the body in the dumpster of a restaurant that's STILL OPEN & SET IT ON FIRE. I can't even make this up. Then, the MC is distressed to see posts about it on social media. She was hoping the media wouldn't think it was newsworthy. Are you kidding me? Not to mention the poor editing. Literally the boom can be summed up in a few sentences. The MC finds her true mate but he's a human so it couldn't possibly be possible...oh but he's at least part wolf shifter although he doesn't know it. His best friend just happens to be part wolf shifter also and has no clue, but he's fated to the MC's best friend. How convenient and odd. They become friends with vampires that don't drink from humans. There's a part where the MC meets a fae girl in the bathroom and there's a weird connection when they touch and all of a sudden the MC has mysterious powers. Ominous. The guys were lame w the exception of Egan. Just disappointing.

Really great read. headed straight into book 2
This was a very great read. I wasn’t sure at first but it didn’t take long for me to start enjoying the story. It’s a funny book, especially chapter 15, which had me laughing out loud. And the last chapter, particularly the final 10 or so lines were really great! All the characters as fun and worth getting to know. Sadie, Donovan, Roxy, Axel, Egan, Lilith and Katherine were funny, loyal and fierce. I can not wait to start the next book (right now).

A little different....
.............May contain spoilers......Can I say that this was my favorite start to one of this author's series? No, but I can say it was different, not a bad different , just different. Am I sorry I read it? Absolutely not. One thing I can point out that was different, was how weak the protagonist is. It's quite pathetic at times and I'm not used to that with this author, however, it just means that this character has leaps and bounds to grow and that is exciting. She has the potential to be a favorite character from Grey. Another difference is that Sadie's mate is human or at least part. That too is an exciting concept. There are so many possibilities at growth from this character. While they each fought their connection to each other, Grey didnt beat around the bush, with their bond. I loved that. So many times with this genre, that aspect seems to drag on for ages. I'm excited for Sadie's story to unfold. I actually feel like I cant give you an honest review because it's just getting started. I'll leave you with this. This storyline has so so much potential.

I liked the book
Good read but a few flax's#1 has anyone thought to earn Roxy's parents to get the heck out of dodge???#2 this girl lived with her father for 20 years knows he's a killer. Heck he murdered all of her half sisters and step mother's. Who knows how many there were. Why does she never think to earn Roxy that she has pissed him off???#3 she should have known something would happen to Donovan at least. He should have stayed in public.#4 She should have made a plan with Roxy. She knew he was pushing douchebag on her. They could have made a plan to escape. Saved money. Made friends. Put a plan in place. Now she's just winging it.

Takes a while to get into it.
Although it took a while to get into it, I was curious enough to keep going. Now I'm interested enough to want to find out how this all ends ( or not).

3.5 ⭐ Quick engaging read
The storyline is good and kept me hooked. However, the characters are a little dull and there's a lot of plot dragging. Also, I understand the concept of fated mates and how they are instantly attracted... but in this case the mates were unaware and fighting it. So for there to be instant love and instant feeling of self sacrifice for the mate, felt a little off. There should have been some added romance and moments between the characters to make it more believable. Hopefully, the next one clears some things up and is better.

Good
I've read 3 trilogies that were excellent! This one however seems not up to par like the others 🤔 I dunno if it is perhaps this trilogy was one of the first to be written, so age/experience? Still a decent read though...

Vou dar uma chance
Começou bem fraquinho. A protagonista é uma vergonha pro feminismo em todo canto, mas o finalzinho, finalzinho MESMO, me deu esperança. Vou ler o próximo pra ver se melhora.

Thrilling start to a series
‘Hidden Mate’ is book one in Jen L. Grey’s The Wolf Born Trilogy.Sadie wants nothing more than to have some freedom and space for her father and pack. There’s one condition, she and her best friend Roxy can attend college as long as Brock goes with her. Sadie and Roxy just want to have some fun and learn something while they attend college, but having Brock following and watching their every move and reporting to her dad isn’t going to be as fun as she hoped. But there is much more behind why Brock had to go with her and when Sadie finds out the truth things are going to change drastically for her. This was such a ride. If this is any indication on how great this series is going to be then sign me up. I was hooked tooth and nail on every word. But be warned this had a major cliffhanger that you are going to scream and shout about. But I promise that the lead up to the ending is so worth it.Sadie seems a little timid and naive with what the world of supernaturals and humans are really like, being as she has been her told her whole life that being strong is what is important. But the more she hangs around her new friends Egan, Lillith and Katherine she learns that the world is nothing like what her father Tyler has been telling her. Now I’m not saying that Sadie was completely oblivious to the real world and was completely brainwashed by Tyler, cause she wasn’t. She just seemed to believe that supernaturals were superior to humans. But when a certain human can’t leave her head she seems to open her eyes up more and see the lies for what they are. Sadie’s character grows a backbone by the end of this book and I can’t wait to see her character continually grow in the next book.I loved Roxy, Katherine and Lillith’s banter and witty commentary throughout this book. Egan is a mystery that I’m looking forward to discovering. Donovan and Axle are just what the girls need.I am Super excited about this series.
