Great smart plug to go with echo!
So I’m kind of new to the amazon device family. We just got our echo a few months ago. I’ve been a prime member for over 10 years so I’m familiar with how amazon has changed life as we knew it (for me anyway). I saw the amazon smart plug when I was searching for any brand smart plug that had Alexa control with it. It’s been in my cart saved for later for at least a month! I finally decided to just pre order it so that I could review it and hopefully help other people that are like me and have fallen way behind in the tech field. For reference I’m an almost 34 year old mom of 2. This means that my 8 year old stole my iPad, iMac, and I haven’t had a computer of my own in about 4 years! So I do everything from my iPhone. I’ve had some weird issues with our echo and my Alexa app that it will just randomly pause a song so I’m not sure what that is about. ANYWAY! I received my new amazon smart plug the day it was released (so glad it’s not like a new iPhone or PlayStation where people camp out ahead of time or do people still do this??). It was easier than I expected but harder than was described in the listing because my Alexa didn’t just recognize it. Setup: Since my Alexa didn’t recognize it on its own, I had to unplug the smart plug and quickly scan the code on the back of the plug, then plug it back in fast so that when it scanned for it it would see it plugged in. After that it was very simple. I was able to plug in my baby monitor and then tell Alexa to “turn off plug one” and it turned off! It is so cool! Future: I think homes will end up being built with these right into the electrical system. Maybe they already are. Comparing: With so many different brands offering smart plugs with Alexa integration I can’t see myself buying any more than 1 for $25. Too many are 2 for $20. While it’s nice to have the amazon support backing this up, I just can’t afford to fill my home with them at such a high cost comparative to other brands that do the same exact thing. Overall: If you can afford to fill your plugs with these then do! This smart plug is easy and awesome! But if you’re on a tight budget like I am, I would try a different brand first and see if those will work just as well. Every time I purchase something online, I always check the reviews. I count on others to help me choose the best option. My reviews are always my honest opinion and I try to include photos if possible. Best smart plugs!
The Amazon Smart Plug 2-Pack is fantastic! Setup was incredibly simple — I had both plugs up and running in just a few minutes using the Alexa app. They connect seamlessly with Alexa, so I can control lamps and appliances with just my voice or through routines. These smart plugs work reliably and have opened up so many possibilities around the house. I love being able to schedule lights, automate fans, and even control things when I’m away from home. They’re compact, unobtrusive, and haven’t caused any connectivity issues. Super affordable for a 2-pack and extremely user-friendly. Perfect for anyone looking to start or expand their smart home setup!

Easy Smart Plug
I love this Amazon Smart Plug. It is SO simple to set up and works magically with our two Alexa Shows and three Alexa Echo's! All I have to say is, "Turn on big lighting" and my light turns on and also I can easily turn it off by saying, "Alexa, turn off big lighting." Smart Alexa has truly changed my life. You will not regret this very reasonably priced item.

Perfect for Automating My Christmas Tree Lights
I picked up this Amazon Smart Plug specifically to use with my Christmas tree, and it has worked flawlessly. Setup took less than a minute—Alexa detected it instantly, and I was able to name the plug “Christmas Tree” so I can control it with simple voice commands. Now I can turn the tree lights on and off hands-free, which has been incredibly convenient during the busy holiday season. The scheduling feature in the Alexa app is also great. I set the lights to come on automatically in the evening and turn off before bedtime, so I don’t have to reach behind the tree or remember to unplug it. The plug fits securely in the outlet and doesn’t block the second socket, which is a big plus when you need multiple things plugged in. The only drawback is that it only works with Alexa, but if your home already uses Echo devices, this smart plug makes decorating and daily routines so much easier—especially for holiday lighting.

Reliable and Easy to Use, but a Bit Pricey
Product: Amazon Smart Plug Used for: 2 years and 1 week Key Features: – Very easy setup process through the Alexa app – Great Alexa integration for automations and scenarios – Compact design, though may block adjacent outlets depending on spacing Ratings: Quality: The quality and durability are excellent. After over two years of use, it still looks almost brand new and feels solid. Rating: 5/5 Performance: Works seamlessly with the Alexa app. Connection stability is generally very good, with only occasional random disconnects that are quickly fixed in the app. Response time is quick, and commands execute reliably. Rating: 5/5 Value: While it’s a great product, it is on the pricier side for a smart plug. If you don’t rely heavily on Alexa, there are cheaper alternatives that may work just as well for your needs. Rating: 4/5 Pros: – Excellent build quality and durability – Easy setup and smooth Alexa integration Cons: – Price is high compared to similar smart plugs – Can block other outlets depending on outlet spacing Summary: The Amazon Smart Plug is a reliable and well-built device that’s incredibly easy to set up and works perfectly with Alexa for smart home scenarios. While the price is higher than some competitors, those deeply invested in the Amazon ecosystem will find it worth the cost. Just be aware of potential outlet blockage depending on your setup. Overall Rating: 5/5 Disclaimer: This review is based on my personal experience using the product. I'm not an expert—just sharing my honest thoughts to help others make an informed decision.

Pretty impressed on the ease of setup but still prefer Z-wave devices
The only other smart plugs and switches I have currently are all Z-wave based (about 20) and I've never had issues with any of them and have them all programmed on schedules and various alerts as well as manual control. However, obtaining Z-wave based products are getting harder and harder because it seems the market is flooded with so many off-brand plugs and switches tied to a variety of ecosystems. My preference has always been for Z-wave because those devices operate on their own wireless band outside of my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks and instead communicate only to a hub that is connected to the internet. I'm still not sold on switching out my smart devices for devices that need persistent internet access and consume wireless bandwidth but do like that this device is very easy to setup and use. I currently have this in my kids' room connected to a Vornado fan that they can call upon if they want some airflow in their room and not affect anyone else. I've used a Z-wave switch for this in the past and have controlled it for them or set it on a schedule because I didn't want them to have access to the SmartThings app to be able to control that device and others. Setup and adoption were easy, maybe a little easier than SmartThings. Calling out to Alexa to control the device is intuitive and works well to set timers and basic on/off. However, now that the device is on my wifi network, I see that it uploads and downloads 1-5KB of data twice an hour starting at about 9 minutes after the hour and again 5 minutes later with an Amazon server with "device-metrics" in the hostname. Not sure what it's doing exactly, my guess would be exchanging telemetry data or phoning home. Overall, it's a a good smart plug that's easy to use and can be trusted to some extent if you're already using Amazon devices in your home rather than tie yourself into some other ecosystem that sends data to a foreign country.
