No thrills thriller
I get that this is a prequel, so some background knowledge of the characters/situations is assumed, so I wasn't surprised at the lack of explanation as to who the characters were or who they were working for. What I was surprised at was the complete lack of character development. If you're going to write a prequel, then I would assume that it would be to give your characters more depth than you have in your full series. The Cairo Vendetta doesn't provide this at all.Instead, we have a faiirly predictable plot with US agents rushing in to save Israel from the evil Muslims once again. Many other books have delivered much more believable and much more tense/action-packed attempts at this plot. The characters who are going to die are easily picked out almost as soon as they are introduced, and the surprise way that some of them go can be just as obvious (Forcing a man's entire security detail to trade out their guns for ones that you provide them, really? And not a single one bothers to check their ammo load?). Beyond these problems, so much of the dialog and interactions between characters seems forced and awkward, beyond what could possibly happen with people working together in these sorts of roles.Maybe the rest of the books in the Sean Wyatt series are better? Based on reading this one, though, I won't be finding out.

Wonderful addition to the entire Sean Wyatt series!
This great book goes all the way back to the very start of the adventures of Sean Wyatt, and it fills in the story between Wyatt and Tommy from their first start in working together. It is a fabulous way to start the series if you are not already hooked, and if you are a Sean Wyatt junkie, like I am, it is a great addition. In fact, having just finished this one, I have decided to read them all again, in order, while waiting for the next installment. Yes, these books are that good - full of excitement and suspense all the way through. There were many twists I didn't see coming at all! The only warning I would give would be to get your chores done first before you start any Sean Wyatt book, because putting them down before you are finished is pure torture. Thank you again, Ernest Dempsey! I loved it!

The Cairo Vendetta- An Exciting Sean Wyatt prequel novel
I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.I have had the privilege of being on Mr. Dempsey’s VIP readers list for a number of his books. He not only asks for an honest review, advanced readers get to send him questions, suggestions, error corrections prior to the final published edition. Even though the advanced copy is free I made a commitment to myself that in addition to an honest review I would buy the final copy if I felt the book was good and worthy of recommending to other readers.Mr. Dempsey has never failed to get me to buy the book. This prequel lives up to the expectation his previous novels set. It is an easy, exciting read that fills in some blanks from the other Sean Wyatt books and I believe opens some new doors for future books. You do not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy The Cairo Vendetta. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, The Secret of the Stones, this prequel is a perfect introduction.

In the beginning--
This episode explores the time before the first book in the series. As always, I just loved it. Mr Dempsey gets better and better with every book and always has a fresh story to tell and another adventure to take us on. While I did get to read his books early as part of his advanced reader team, I found his books early and read many before that. I would have purchased this anyway and always do buy the finished product when it's released. I just finished reading a similar book by a well known author and this could stand up to it any day. If you like James Rollins and Steve Berry you can't go wrong with this book.

Best of the Best!
What can I say that has not already been said in the previous reviews! Ernest Dempsey's writing takes one right into the script--you are there--you experience the scenes--you anticipate what is to come. I admit to being a follower of various author's books, but never quite like this; each of Dempsey's characters becomes personal and, when there is a prequel like this book, it's fulfilling to see where they started and then realize how each one has developed throughout the subsequent books. Despite being a fan of various other well-known authors, it is easy to become jaded after a while and bored with the same characters and genre over and over. Dempsey's books, however, continue to keep the reader enthralled (I've read them all). His characters do not become boring--it's difficult to await the release of the next book to see on what new adventure the reader will be taken!
