what material is it made off ?

There is no label stating materials. No insert with care or other info. I purchased the brown with 3 smaller bags. The outside of all are typical artificial leather. Plastic/vinyl but without any odor. All but the smallest are lined with a fairly sturdy polyester type fabric. I hope that helps.

Does the child like bear detatch?

The bear came already detached. The chain to use to attach it is the cheapest part of the set. It’s like the chain on a closet light switch or a plug for a sink. Not attractive. The bear is cheap looking. The clothing is glued on. It’s not tightly packed with filling. It’s fairly well assembled though. Not something that would last long on the outside of a purse I used.

What would this bag bea large medium or small?

The size for each piece is given in the description above. The only thing missing is the shoulder strap. That strap is detachable and adjustable. I’d say it extends to 3 feet. Plenty long for nearly everyone. The 4 piece set bag is hard sided. The front, back and bottom are stiff/solid. I am one of those carry everything people and it will work for me.
