I have been very pleased with the Oben GH-30 Gimbal. I have owned it for 2.5 years, and use it frequently. Setting the gimbal up properly takes away any concern about it moving or tilting by itself. I must confess that I rarely lock the knobs - unless changing bodies or lenses. It just stays in place perfectly, and moves very smoothly. I currently am looking for a little smaller and lighter gimbal, and wish I could get another product by Oben.

I am an amateur bird photographer, and admittedly this is my first gimbal, so I can't say I have much to compare this to. That said, I've owned this for a few months now, and have taken it on some (light) outings. I feel very confident that this gimbal can hold my camera (Canon EOS90D + Sigma 150-600mm) which is about 4.5-5 lbs in total. When balanced, the whole camera system feels weightless. The control surfaces are sturdy, and and hold the camera firmly without much effort required. Some have noted that the knobs are flimsy- they are plastic, but I feel that they are adequate. The only downside I could note is that this is not a light piece of equipment. For my purposes, a bit of weight is not a major issue, but that may be a consideration for others. Overall- I think this is a great system for folks who are starting out or are budget-conscious. Solid piece of kit. I will followup with a longer-term review if anything changes over time.

I needed a gimbal head to support a heavy full frame DSLR (D850) with a heavy zoom (Sigma 150-600). The adjustments possible with this head allowed the horizontal rotation axis to pass through the optical axis of the lens and the position of the camera/lens on the horizontal support arm of the adjusted so that the optical axis would remain horizontal when taking ones hands off the camera. This allows for smooth use of the setup while photographing moving subjects such as birds taking off or landing.The head itself seems to be of heavy duty construction and vertical and horizontal rotation works very smoothly. The adjustment knobs work well to set the friction desired for head motion.I have used the head on an extended photo shoot of moving subjects and am delighted with its performance.

This is a very good piece of equipment. Very sturdy, firm, good quality material. This is what you need to set low and taking photos wildlife.
