It is rather disappointing that this title is so hard to come by and so expensive. The author has tremendous experience in a wide variety of large transports. He provides an excellent tutorial in the handling characteristics of these aircraft that professional pilots of any skill level from novice to expert will find useful. I read this book to prepare for an interview at Cathay Pacific but can recommend it without reservation as one of the books that should be on any pilot's bookshelf right next to Stick and Rudder.

Suited for fans of the early jets
Severely dated, written in the mid-'60s, with a minor update in 1971.But if your interest is in the early jets--707, DC-8--then you'll enjoy learning what it was like for pilots of the era to transition from prop planes. It pretty much boils down to: (1) Expect the stall to happen at a higher speed and in turns; (2) Make your plans way ahead, since you're not slowing down anywhere near as quickly in a jet!Recommended.

Good Contents. I had to read this book before I am 737-rated.

This book saved my career
I'm transitioning from a turboprop to a B737-NG and I was experiencing difficulties with the handling of the aircraft and also problems to figure out the flare and landing, but after going through the book and applying the landing technique shown here I've had no further problems with handling and landing the B737-NG.

A jewel from aviation. It was written years ago and yet it helps you understand many things. Amazing how things have changed and yet the basic principles are the same.

All-Time Best Book on Flying Large Airplanes
This book and Fly the Wing are very worthwhile reads for pilots. Handling the Big Jets could use some updating to cover newer types through the 787 and A380.
