MariamPantry Zaatar

This stuff smells incredible straight out of the bag. The thyme, sesame, and sumac are fresh and punchy, and the aroma hits you before you’ve even scooped any out. I’ve been adding it to homemade flatbreads, sprinkling it over roasted veg, and even mixing it with olive oil for a quick bread dip. It just makes everything taste richer and more complex. The 250g bag is generous and will last me ages, but it’s so moreish I can see myself running through it faster than planned.

Proper zaatar. 1 star less only because of the cost, 250g for £7

The product is too salty (11g of salt per 100g) and full of small pieces of stems (wood) as shown in the photo. Definitely won't recommend it to anyone and surely won't buy it again. I would have sent back if I had the choice.

Every recipe I read in the Guardian or the Observer seems to use Zatar - it's this year's pomegranate molasses. Someone on the staff must have bought a factory. Anyway, I thought I'd better fit in and acquire a supply. Good grief, the bag is massive - will keep me going until Zatar goes out of fashion and we're all putting fermented yak droppings in our stews, or whatever the next middle class craze turns out to be. Meanwhile, this is a good value purchase.

I bought this to make pastry and the results were fabulous. The flavor is rich and it's for sure better than other product I tried before.
