Responsive, accurate, and small increments
Great for baking ingredients and able to measure to 0.1 gram increments. This is the second one I have purchased, once for a vacation home and now to replace a kitchen aide model that was over 20 years old but only had the ability to do whole gram increments. My first one is now 12 years old and still works fabulously. Easy to clean and store. Love being able to tare out and add to same bowl. Easy and quickly switches between units of measure as needed. And responds quickly to added amounts.

The Little Scale That Does It All
This review is for: Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale, Original By: Ozeri Store ==================================================== When my last kitchen scale gave up the ghost I tried going without for a while but measuring cups just don't give the accuracy and consistency needed for dry measures. I found that to be especially true for measuring flour. My understanding is that's why cooks used to sift flour before measuring. Scales are much easier and are much more accurate. Also, I don't know anyone who has a flour sifter in their kitchen unless they inherited one from their grandmother. Ok, getting back on track... So I started searching Amazon. With nearly 90,000 mostly positive reviews at the time of this review, I settled on this one. And it didn't disappoint. I love this scale. It does everything I need, but I'm just an average and occasional home cook. For my needs it's very accurate, providing consistent results for my sourdough habit. However, like many scales it may not be accurate when weighing items of just a few grams. For those small measures, don't place your items directly on the scale as currently shown on the product page. Instead, place a plate or bowl on the scale, tare it, and then add the few grams of product to your plate/bowl until you get the desired amount. I read that recommendation years ago and it seems to work for me. NOTE: This tip likely harks back to the days of older analog scales that utilized springs, although I've read that some digital scales still have springs. It's very small so can fit almost anywhere in your cabinets, and is easy to clean. It measures in pounds, grams, ml etc. - whatever you might need. BATTERY SAVING TIME-OUT FEATURE The one negative is that out of the box it shuts down after 2 minutes of inactivity to save batteries. That caught me by surprise a couple of times mid-measure as I was reading recipes, resulting in some bar-room language escaping my mouth. Grudgingly, I resorted to reading the flippin' manual to see if the time-out feature could be controlled. Turns out you can switch between a 2 minute timeout and a 5 minute timeout by pressing and holding the two control buttons (Unit & Tare) at the same time. Problem solved. -- You'll need to repeat this step when changing batteries! I highly recommend this little scale!

Get This If You're Looking For A Digital Scale!
In need of a digital scale, I was originally drawn to the ones with a large, flat surface. However, I was intrigued by this one with its smaller footprint, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love its simplicity. I don't want needless settings and features (to break) and I don't want it talking to me lol. There are two buttons on it, one to choose among 5 measuring units (I use the oz or gram) and the "Tare" button, which turns it on, off, and resets to zero. Don't be deceived by the scale's smaller surface in the form of a disc. There isn't one thing I've been unable to measure. If necessary, I can place a bowl on the disc to make weighing certain things easier. I've also used reusable plastic containers. Another handy item to use if you can't place something directly on the surface (or simply don't want to) is a coffee filter. I've used those to weigh cheese and chicken, then just toss them. If you need to weigh liquids, any measuring cup will fit on that base. Just remember to place whatever container you're using on the unit FIRST, notice its weight, THEN hit "Tare." This will reset it to zero so the holding item isn't factored in the weight. (Even toweling or coffee filters have weight.) Another nice thing about this is that it used 2 regular AAA batteries. I don't like button batteries because I find them hard to insert/remove, and they're more expensive, so I was happy that this unit doesn't use them. The display is very basic, with no blue backlight, for those that want that. The numbers, however, are large and it's still easy to read. And what a value at this price! The unit is intuitive and user-friendly, but the instructions are comprehensive for those who want to look them over. I was in the market for a scale, and NOWHERE did I see a selection as large as Amazon's. If you need a simple digital scale, get this one! You won't be disappointed.

Amazon purchasers seemed to really like the scale
This review for Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale - chrome or silver ZK14-B, 4-6-18. I purchased this scale based on America's Test Kitchen review as budget kitchen scale recommendation. I found other pro type reviews recommending same digital scale, finally, Amazon purchasers seemed to really like the scale. I have owned this scale for about 1.5 months, use it almost daily. My main usage is for weighing ingredients for homemade bread and other typical kitchen ingredients for food prep. I had a similar scale (diff mfg) a few years ago, this one seems to work better. 1st reason I can easily see the read-out display even with a large mixing bowl on the scale. Even though the old scale looked similar the display was tucked further back not allowing an easy view. Pros •The readout seems responsive and almost instant to give a weight. •The size is decent not too big or small •Display readout is good, however, would be nice if back-lit •(g, lbs, lbs:oz, oz, ml) is all you need for typical kitchen usage •Tare feature works well, helps keep cleanup to min because you can pour several ingredients in the same bowl, just hit tare after each to zero out, and you are weighing the next ingredient. •So far battery life seems good. Cons • The 2-minute auto shutoff is very frustrating. It would be nice to be configurable. • sometimes the buttons seem to require a precise touch in a certain spot, then other times doesn't seem to matter. • 10ths readings are important on more than an oz. It would be nice to have a tiny light when the weight goes over 1/2 increment ie gram 4 - 5 at 4.5 light comes on when at 5 off until hits 5.5. I understand that to get such a fine weight amount for grams means higher cost, but adding $2 for that half point light would really be worth it. So far I have not tested with certified weights, however, one thing is sure, the results have me looking for certified volume and measuring of cups, tablespoon, teaspoon, 1/2 and 1/4 tsp. Why? Because, not one tablespoon, teaspoon or even cup measurement tool I have, for volume when ingredients weighed matches, ingredient weights listed by Manufactures and other information sites on ingredients weight. All in All, I like the scale, would recommend it to a friend or buy as an inexpensive gift for someone.

Very happy with the Ozeri ZK14-S kitchen scale.
I researched various kitchen scales because I'm just starting to mill & bake my own bread. Had years of experience with quick breads out of a box, beer bread, homemade zucchini, banana & pumpkin breads but always felt making homemade yeast breads was a bit intimidating and time consuming (did not want to fail). I'm also going to introduce ancient grains as I progress for healthier breads. I noticed many recipes are in metric and I don't have the inclination to learn to convert in my head (in my USA culture & growing up we don't use metric but from research I get that it is suppose to be more accurate although I don't recall ever having an issue using our traditional volume measures). The Ozeri digital scale had every feature I wanted for my first scale including a great price of $11 (in case I didn't like it or as sometimes happens the product breaks in short time frame) and a bonus feature. Sometimes the Amazon reviews can leave one bewildered as to what to really expect. So far I'm glad I chose the Ozeri. I can't review its longevity yet but these are the features that helped me decide on the Ozeri A. Goldilocks size (just right! Not too big/too small). There is already enough stuff taking up counter space. B. Goes to 2 digits on OZS, some reviews said it only went to 1 digit (yes I'm going to be using grams but I still have a gazillion recipes that use traditional measures). C. TARE function - awesome. I wouldn't buy a scale that doesn't have TARE feature. D. Good response when adding ingredients, can lag a second but seems other inexpensive brands are the same or worse. E. It holds/displays the value for 2 minutes by default. Bonus: instructions say it can be set to hold for up to 5 minutes (not verified). That is nice option for those days I'm not operating at peak baking organization. F. Has rubberized feet to hold in place but still movable (not suction cups to battle with). G. MAX Weighing over 13 lbs. Not sure I will need that much unless I get really good at bread baking. Others stop at 11 lbs. Like it when a product offers a little extra. H. Easy to use. Two control buttons. Can move through the various Units (6 total) and it remembers initial value. I. Large display although the Units can be hard to see (probably more a function of my eyes than the scale) as you scroll through them. Not a show stopper but if I graduate to a new scale that will be on my want list. J. Uses 2 AAA batteries. I'm grateful power plug not required, small counter space and few accessible outlets. K. Great price. L. 1 year warranty. Hopefully won't need to verify. Offers another year but kinda gimmicky/phishing so I won't be getting it. But I get it, it's marketing. M. It comes in various colors. i dont care unless the only color available is one I don't like. If anyone is still reading and cares I got the silver/black. It's early days but right out of the box I'm happy I chose the Ozeri Pronto. Also it shipped very fast (2-3 days) and n shipping damage.

Detailed Review After 1 Month of Use (And Refuting Some Incorrect Reviews)
The sheer volume of recent reviews on this scale had me worried I was seeing fake positive reviews by bots. After using the product for a month, I think they are real! I'm very pleased with this purchase. PROS: + It's quite accurate. Measures to two decimal places. + The tare function actually works! This function lets you force the scale to zero so that you can measure only the substance you want to weight. For example, I can set an empty juice glass on it, hit "tare," have the scale reset to zero with the glass still on it, and then I know the weight on the scale is only the weight of juice I pour into the glass next. It basically subtracts container weights for you. In my experience, many scales at this price have shoddy tare functions or none at all. + The display is easy to read with good contrast and large numbers. + The scale automatically shuts off if I forget, saving me batteries. + It's shiny and clean looking without being overly polished or cheap looking from glossy coating. + It's useful to be able to convert automatically between ounces, grams, pounds, and kilograms. + It's very simple to use. + I've seen some folks complaint that it's plastic, but I like the light-weight body. I can move it from surface to surface while cooking with just one hand, which is handy when I have the other hand covered in dough or raw chicken or something. CONS: - Honestly, I can't think of any. REFUTING OTHER REVIEWS: When considering this product, I suspected some folks leaving negative views don't have any idea how to use a scale and/or lack common sense. After using my scale and loving it, I think that's true. Here are some things I have to dispute: 1. I've seen a couple of reviews say it "only weighs in even numbers." This is not true, at least of the current model. It weighs in 1-gram, 1-oz, etc. increments, so don't worry about that. 2. I've seen other views say that it's not good for measuring small quantities, such as around 1 gram. I just tested this (with a 1-gram block from a mathematical demonstration set) and didn't have any problem with it, but honestly... if you're regularly measuring 1g quantities, you either need to 1) learn to estimate small amounts for cooking or 2) buy a chemist's scale, which is designed for such small measurements in the way food scales are not. Good luck, Walter White. I will return to update this review when I've used the unit longer.

Buy this scale!
I love my Ozeri kitchen scale. It's lightweight, and the small size makes it easy to store. Intuitive controls make it easy to use. Battery life is incredible: I use the scale all the time, can't remember the last time I replaced the batteries. The best part is the durability! I've had mine for 8 years, and with frequent use, it still looks brand new, and works as well as the day I got it. When (if?) it finally wears out, I'll get another one exactly like it. Do yourself a favor and buy this well-made, long-lasting essential kitchen tool.

Perfect little kitchen scale
This is a wonderful little scale. It’s accurate for weighing food purposes and the tare function is simple to use. I use it frequently for weighing food for defrosting in microwave. I put plate on scale. Weigh plate. Then press tare which zeros out weight of plate. Then place food on plate and it gives me weight of food on whatever measurement scale I want. My meat etc is purchased in kilos but my microwave is set to pounds and often we break up originally packages, so this is wonderful. I’ve been using for months and love it.
