Ultra Rubber Practice Mute for Cello

The thing that came in the mail is not what’s pictured. I mean the material is definitely a cheaper quality than other practice mutes I’ve seen, but it still does its job. The main issue is it’s kind of stiff so it’s a bit difficult to actually get on a bridge. But once it’s on there, it works. Also smells kind of cheap/rubbery so I washed it with dish soap and it smells less terrible. But I didn’t want to pay shipping on an actual company’s website, so I guess it’s on me.

This mute is much stiffer than I anticipated. My previous mutes have been more flexible, more rubbery. This feels like plastic. It took an effort to push it on my bridge.

This came quickly and adequately packaged. It mutes less than I hoped, but about as much as I expected. I wouldn't be comfortable playing at night, but feel like I'm at least less obvious during the day.

Every cello player should own a mute. I had a solid aluminum mute which I liked a lot, but over time it compressed the bridge and the mute would no longer stay on. This mute stays firmly in place.

I love hearing the cello played for music, but not as much for practice. This really makes cohabitation better! Also, great price!

It worked great until my dog ate it. If you're wondering, it makes a great large teething puppy chew toy. Recommend it if you can't stand listening to someone practice or don't want to disrupt others with your practice. Like most instrument mutes, it doesn't silence it but changes the pitch a bit. Worth it for me to buy another and donate the current chewed one to the waste bin.

I needed a mute to dampen the sound to practice in an apartment without disturbing my neighbors. Quiets the sound well. However, like any mute makes the sound a bit nasally. Works for the purpose of quieter sound.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do.At first I was surprised the Cello still sounded so loud, then after I played a while,I took it off and was shocked how much louder the Cello was without it on!
