I used this for 3 months before my water started reading 100ppm, and I'm a very light user. It advertises 5 years. Why is there a huge discrepancy?

50-150 ppm is considered excellent drinking water. Are you using this with a fridge that has an internal filter? If so, did you change it at the same time?

It is NOT made in the USA! From the label on box: "Made in China, No. 13, Yishengbai Road Jimo, Qingdao, China". I bought this filter from all the filters on Amazon, because the answer to this question was "Yes, it's made in USA".

I have 1/4" pex tubing for my water line. how to i connect this? the 1/4" poly tubing od is smaller than the pex.

My 1/4 inch just pushed into the filter and all was fine.

Will this filter reduce the amount of bacteria and germs?

The answer is NO. This filter is not designed to do that. To remove germs and bacteria you need ultrafiltration system. reverse Osmosis and many others.
