Hello, If you are planning to mount it on a wall, yes it will easily hold 3kg. For under the table mounting, I wouldn't go over 2.5 kg.

Q: How far do the mounting brackets stick out from the side of dvr/nvr need to find out if i have room.

The brackets are actually 60mm long and then the locks for each will protrude a further 35mm if they’re fully open. It depends on how deep your drive or router is. I have used them to mount a router on the wall and the locks are extended about 29mm. Not sure if this helps.
