How far forward does this cause the switch to protrude? any issues with closing rack door on fiber when using sfp?

The switch will sit flush with the mounting rails, so it depends on how deep in the rack they are located. I usually give 2.5" space from the rails to the rack doors for SFP's and fiber cable, so there's enough room not to break the cable.
