Great for matting and thick undercoats.
This tool has been the best so far with helping to remove mats from my older cat. She has medium long hair that has a very thick undercoat. We never had this issue until we moved to a dryer climate, and suddenly it was out of control. Last summer my daughter and her husband gave her a shave. She was not a happy cat, and she hasn’t forgiven them completely yet. I could brush her and try to detangle her with the two sided brush I’ve used for years, she was patient until she couldn’t stand the pulling anymore.I saw this tool and thought that it might work. This new tool was great, and she tolerated it very well for a long time. It’s been a process, but so far I’m pleased with the results. I also didn’t end up with as much fur flying around in the air while I was using it. She is much happier with this and it’s marvelous results!! I recommend for cats with mats. It’s a much more peaceful way to remove mats from your furry friend. Fewer tears all around!!

Amazing, 100% recommend!!
We have a cat that has long hair that gets knotted up pretty easily. We used to have to shave him in the summers and whenever he’d have a knot, it just seemed so painful….until this brush came into our lives!! This removes knots very easily and it causes our cat NO pain. This is such a lifesaver product, would 100% recommend!!

Got some mats out.
This works better than a flea comb.Sometimes it's awkward to hold because you can only use it one-way. The movement must be in the direction of the blades and the direction of the fur. If you're not ambidextrous, you have to turn the cat around.I was able to remove more mats with this than with a flea or grooming comb. However, there is no easy way to remove mats...it takes work.

Great tool
I use this on my Great Pyrenees. He gets matted within minutes of being brushed. This comb goes through the toughest thickest fur. Do be careful as the blades are very sharp. I barely brushed it over my finger and it cut me. Be careful not to cut your pup as well. I highly recommend for dogs with tough heavy fur.

Not gentle enough for old or sensitive pets
My older cat doesn’t clean herself very thoroughly anymore so she gets a lot of small dense mats in her hair, even with us brushing her every day. When using this brush, I can tell that it probably works very well on most dogs, and other cats as well, but it is too big and too harsh for an elderly cat on the smaller side (8lbs in her prime and 4.5 as an oldie). Especially with small dense mats, this is too large to easily work on each clump without poking at and irritating the surrounding area. Cats have very stretchy and sensitive skin, so with a cat whose fur is not as dense and fluffy as it used to be, and whose skin is even more thin and sensitive, it’s hard not to pull too hard or poke her with the tips. Even though they are rounded for safety and don’t scratch her, it’s still a small metal tip with a somewhat pointy shape which gets irritating over time rubbing over the same spot. Perhaps if the brush was smaller, it would be easier to stay isolated on one knot at a time.I am still able to use this very gently by just barely brushing over each layer of the knot and it still works a little better that way than any other brush I have partly due to its smaller size and sideways design. But it takes a long time for each spot this way and she doesn’t exactly want to let me brush her and mess with her fur for 45 minutes at a time on one spot. Especially not on a less comfortable area like under her chest and belly, which is wear she gets the worst knots. The shape and size work really well compared to other brushes for the most part, but because it’s sideways, it only really works from one angle. I wish there was some way to flip around the blades or switch them to the other end of the handle. The blades are not so sharp that they slice right through the matted fur. They still require a bit of tugging. Nothing too extreme, but still too rough if you have an older or more sensitive animal. Overall this brush has a few flaws, but I don’t think it is a bad product. In my opinion however, it’s not as versatile or quite as efficient as the description leads you to believe.

Works great with some patience
I have a VERY long haired wooly Siberian husky. He decided to start swimming last summer and he gets extremely matted after just one swim. I let his mats go for too long because he was swimming every day. This has been the best comb I have tried so far for removing his mats. This is no miracle product, but with some love and patience, it does a fantastic job. I would recommend using a detangling spray and combing down, rather than out.

Breaks up large mats
My long hair exotic cat’s undercoat became heavily matted. I ordered this dematting tool after reading an article highly recommending it. Using it and a detangler spray, I’ve been able to patiently comb out the large thick mats. I’m taking it slow and working on small areas at a time. I’m so happy to have this and highly recommend. I’ll be using it daily so my kitty doesn’t get matted up again.

Great for deshedding
This is a great brush for deshedding. I have a golden retriever and it takes out so much hair in a very little time. Also great for taking mats out of poodle type hair. Would definitely recommend

Totally worth it.
I love how small this tool is. Not the size of the whole thing, rather the amount of blades and how they’re spaced. I do wish there was another option for blades closer together, but this one works nicely. Our cat is very small and gets matted VERY easily. She is also very sensitive to brushing. We used a different mat remover before this, and she seems to “like” this one a little better. She has very very dense fur and we’re hoping this helps manage her matting a little better over time! So far so good.
