Can the trays be used for hot items coming off of a grill, for instance, the grease from burgers? Shopping for father who loves to grill out

They could definitely handle hot items from a grill but you may be disappointed as to how many grilled items they would hold as they are not very deep. I used them for a salad bar and they were wonderful for smaller things like cherry tomatoes, cheese etc.

No, they do not have lids. I used clear plastic wrap and it worked perfectly. These are very sturdy and can't wait to use them for the holidays!
