2016 release from John Dwyer's Thee Oh Sees - the first studio recordings to capture the muscular rhythm section of twin drummers Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon with ringer bassist Tim Hellman cracking spines. The groove and bludgeon one has come to expect from the band's live shows is captured seamlessly here-they go from zero to head-splitter, and on the rare occasions they do let up on the gas a bit, you're treated to some locked-in hypnotizers, too. The guitar sounds more colossal and ethereal at the same time, riding roughshod over the vacuum-sealed rhythm section, spiraling skywards, and diving into the emerald depths so quick your guts tingle. Synths, strings and smoke-soaked things crawl behind the scenes to make an extra far-out party platter. Review: If ya know ya know - This has quickly become one of my favs. The opener, dead man’s gun, absolutely rips. Ya got plastic plant, jammed entrances, crawl out from the fall out. Ooweee plus a big ol gelatinous cube. Trip on it or dank it up whatever. It’s frikn great dudes Review: The Axis - This has to be my favorite song and closing song I have ever heard, just the solo crashing in on itself is enough to psych your eyes out! After 15 or so albums you would think these guys get old and tiring, but I don't feel that way, some of their albums have the same structure of songs, but man all they do is progress with the sounds they bend, you cant go wrong with this one, just get it!!

A good friend hipped me to this group
A good friend hipped me to this group. I am amazed enough at the sound that I bought 2 of their CDs and ripped them to flac for my daily carry hi-rez music player.

A Rare Album Experience
Perfect synth and guitar psych rock. Not one song fails to deliver, making this a perfect album to play in it's entirety every time.

How does John Dwyer and Co. do it?!
Year after year and this band keeps cranking out good/great albums. Two drummers on this one and DAMN it sounds great! You get your usual fast paced, fuzzed out rockers with sprinkles of spaced out psychedelia but my favorite part of the album is the 2 closing songs. "Crawl Out From the Fall Out" and "The Axis" are long, drawn out, mellow cuts. Love that they ended the album this way. Probably my favorite band of the past five years. One minor disappointment. This is the first time I bought them on vinyl. Usually purchase on CD. The digital download is only 192kbps so I still had to get the CD to get a decent rip for my vehicle.
