Excellent construction. Has some nice features
I got this bag for traveling when I thought it might have to sit out in the rain or be transported on the roof of a car. As it was, I'm glad it didn't have to do either of those things, because it's not waterproof — but they didn't claim it would be.In my opinion it does meet their claim of water resistance. It is made of very heavy-duty PVC-coated fabric, all the seams are waterproof, and any place where there is stitching, such as the handles, have all been PVC-coated on the inside. The place where water can obviously get in is the zipper. The zipper does have a flap over it, like on a jacket, but water can still infiltrate through the teeth and through the porous fabric the teeth are attached to. All it would take to protect this bag, therefore, is a heavy-duty garbage bag over it to keep out most of the water, and that wouldn't take up much space when packed inside for emergencies — so I keep one on hand. All in all, I'm very happy with the quality of construction and the various features. For example, I wanted to be able to carry this on my back, and it has shoulder straps like a backpack. The shoulder straps aren't the most comfortable — I wouldn't want to use it for backpacking — but at this price point, they are the correct design choice. The handles on the ends seemed very sturdy, so I had no worries about them failing. And I wanted to take it on planes as a carry-on. This meant it had to be compressible to the correct size. The idea was to load it in the uncompressed state, then use straps to crush it smaller. When I arrive at my destination, I release all the compression, and that makes it easy to dig around inside to find things when they aren't packed so tight.Fortunately, for this purpose an intelligent designer put buckles on the sides that can quickly compress the height. And there are loops in the straps on the sides so that the length also can be compressed by drawing them together with webbing or string. Ideally, the bag would have built-in straps to perform this length compression, but then it would have been more expensive. The dimensions for the 70-liter size as stated in the Amazon listing are 24" x 15.4" x 15.4", which equates to 93 liters. I would say the shape of the bag most closely resembles a cylinder that is 25" long and 14" diameter, so strictly speaking that would make it 63 liters; however, duffle bags aren't rigid, and this bag isn't exactly a cylinder, so when the sides and ends bulge out, the effective uncompressed volume could easily be 70 liters.

A heavy-duty duffel that's not quite waterPROOF, but for the price, perfect for anything short of submersing it!
Almost perfect... needed a new bag for my soccer referee stuff. This bag is nice and big, in fact it's almost too big (I should have gotten a smaller size) but it's heavy-duty and will be much better than a traditional Cordura-nylon-fabric type of bag (which requires using a garbage bag over it to keep your stuff dry when it rains- not classy or professional at all!)My only wishes for this bag: that the top flap be cut a little bigger, or have a little magnet in it, or something, to keep it aligned and out over the zipper when it's zipped up; if the flap is lifted a little bit, some water can leak in through the zipper. The other thing is that I wish it had a few internal compartments for organizing the gear a bit. That said, both are very small nitpicky things (duffel bags traditionally don't have internal compartments anyway) and overall it's a great bag that I'm sure will serve me well here in the rainy Puget Sound area. If I think of it, through fall/winter I'll come back and update this review to report on the waterproofing, but honestly, just looking at this thing, it's pretty well-made. (Never heard of the brand but it's 2/3 the price of the brand names...)

Great bag for the price
Like vs love... Well, this thing seems really well made, has shoulder straps to carry it backpack style, and it holds all the gear I'm taking on a trip. But there's nothing waterproof about the zippers that close the waterproof fabric, so it's hard to say how well this will work in light or heavy rain strapped to the back of a motorcycle. The top flap has an interior pocked with zipper, though, and I'm fairly certain that compartment will remain bone dry. Not necessarily so in a total immersion situation like white water rafting or a canoe capsize. But as others have said, the price can't be beat, it will show up well on a baggage carousel, and I can sling it on my shoulder with that strap, or use the backpack function and have both arms free. So I'll take it on a trip and add a fifth star if it performs perfectly.

For the price, great bag!
I used this bag for 3 straight months on a motorcycle in South America. The good: It survived thousands of miles through all sorts of weather (excruciating heat, rain, snow, ...) and not once did anything get wet. It is a great size. Zippers still work perfectly, the bag looks pretty good after the travel and almost 2 dozen plane flights. The watch-out thing: There is nothing inside to keep anything organized. Finding something in there with low light could be a challenge. The bad: Soon after starting to use it, the interior pocket on the lid broke. The seam broke, so whatever was in the pocket had the risk of falling outside the pocket and into the larger section of the bag. Not a huge issue.Overall, a great purchase.

I have the same style duffel from the NF. This one is just as good and waaaay cheaper.
I use this constantly to move between my house and my station when on-duty. It gets abused and has been super tough. The zippers are smoother than my NF bags and it's way cheaper. Highly recommend it. Also, I've got multiples of this bag now, and have used them extensively. Be aware, the zippers are not taped. This is not a "dry bag". But, a heavy duty lawn and leaf bag inside with all your gear inside it and with it tied closed will get the job done without spending a lot more for a "dry bag". I do this when backpacking as well even though my gear is top of the line. It's a cheap way to have dry stuff.
