A strange one
It was a strange brew of a film. We decided it was ok to good, and we would watch one more time then pass on to someone else

Middle of the road M. Night
This movie has a very interesting premise. It's all about living for the moment, and letting go of the little annoyances and fights of life, because it's very short. The way it's executed it's interesting. I suppose there was no other way to drive this particular point home, but the way the filmmakers chose is not subtle at all, the movie wears its subtext on its sleeve. This is middle of the road for M. Night. It's not Unbreakable, the Sixth Sense or Split, but it's not The Happening or Signs either. As far as the 4K, this movie was shot on Kodak film, so expect a nice cadence of grain all throughout the movie. By all accounts, and given the movie is primairily set on a beach, the movie should look gorgeous, and it does to a certain extent, but the muted colors and the film grain, prevent it from having the lush 4K presentation you're probably expecting. As far as sound goes, the movie sounds amazing. Even in my 5.2 setup the sound bounces all around and the back channels get a good workout, you certainly feel like you're part of the action. Overall a worthy effort. Probably not one of his movies people will reference in 10 years.

M Night Shyalaman doesn’t disappoint. You’d never guess the twist! Buy it!!

Well worth a watch
Was unsure from what was expected from this film ,tbh seemed a bit strange, and didn’t make sense at times, the title gives it away (old) ,I’m glad I purchased the film , but not a film I would be eager to watch again, , even if you buy it and don’t like it , send it back

This film is bonkers
Shymalan is so annoying. I'm sure he doesn't mean to be. This film is ok, but it had some ideas that could have made it great, only it wasn't (hence the annoying part). The dialogue could be considered worse than that in The Happening - very stilted and unnatural, and does nothing to bring characters to life; people are just very 2D plot devices. Felt like 3 different approaches to the film being chucked together into one movie. Having said that it was watchable to the end, just to find out what the hell was going on. Far from his best, but not quite his worst.

A WEIRD OFFERING FROM DIRECTOR M.NIGHT.SHYAMALAN
Have seen many of M.Night.Shyalaman's presentations down the years, frommy stand-point they have been hit and miss, some very good, some awful andyes, some like this somewhere in the middle. In short, I am never sure what to expect or whether or not to bother, withM.NIGHT films but, often give in to curiosity. In this we see the Cappa family including two young children set off for a vacationat a tropical resort. After a short while they are offered the chance to go to a secluded beach a short distance away where they will join three other parties.....too good to be true ?Whilst there early-on each family discover that one of each of the parties therehave a serious condition. After an hour or so they begin to realize something strange is going on, noticedat first with the younger members of the group, they appear to be advancing inage. As the situation develops and an older member of the group dies before hertime they try to contact beyond the beach, but can't....some try to go for helpbut find they are unable to.Everyone is aging, will anyone survive the idyllic setting ?What is really going on ?A weird movie experience....you might want to wait u til you can stream it,before watching.

Interesting idea, bad execution
Before you watch a film from M. Night Shyamalan, there's a few things you come to expect based on his previous work. One is an interesting, twisty idea that, if handled correctly, can make for a pretty compelling plot. The key words for this film, however, are 'if handled correctly', and when it comes to Old the glimmers of creativity and excitement are squandered thanks to bad filmmaking decisions that put this film closer to The Happening than The Sixth Sense in terms of quality. The biggest problems with this film for me were the script and the acting. Phrases are spoken in the most wooden fashion to the point that it feels like you're watching people recite lines they've only just been fed. They're not good lines, either. Characters say and do things that will have you scratching your head in utter disbelief. The idea of characters visiting a beach where they suddenly start to age rapidly is a creepy one, and while there are moments of shock and genuinely unsettling developments, I can't help thinking that under a different direction and with better acting this could have been a real gem of horror. What we get instead is a B movie of the worst kind.Watch once if you're interested, but lower your expectations beforehand.
