It works! Even a thin layer (nevermind what the instructions say) will give you 4-5 really good hours, and it takes several more hours for the effect to fade completely.Is it more effective than calamine lotion? It's certainly more expensive. It's also thicker, and dries more quickly, which makes it easier and less messy to apply. It does seem to stop the itch faster and more completely, but it's not a dramatic difference. If you've already got some calamine lotion, don't throw it out -- save it for when the rash is past its peak.The only time I would have called Ivarest a must-have is after I spent most of a hot summer day spraying my arms, legs, and face with poison ivy sap (chainsaw, fallen tree covered in dead vines I mis-identified). For the next week-and-a-half, I'd wake up at 3 AM, itching so bad I wanted to scream. Then, waiting 15 minutes (for the itch to subside enough to sleep) was so much better than waiting 20-30 for calamine.

Ivarest is the best product I've found for dealing with poison ivy and other rashes. It's thicker than calamine, so it's easier to apply. It also stops almost all of the itching, which is wonderful, especially when I need this for my grandchildren. It does wear off some before the end of the 8 hours, but it's still wonderful, and as I said, the best I've found. I highly recommend it.

I have used Everest in the past, and it has always worked great! I have not had the opportunity to use it yet. That’s probably a good thing

It works very well, you should expect poison going away with in 4-6 days

Although I wash up thoroughly after working in the yard, I occasionly get in contact with poison ivy. Ivyrest is a life savor.

I have a lot of skin allergies and this is the only ointment that relieves my itch. I buy in bulk

This is a great product! It's much better for stopping poison ivy itch than calamine lotion!
