Extreme Carnage

Surprisingly entertaining
“Extreme Carnage” is a self-contained mini-even story collecting Extreme Carnage Alpha (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Scream (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Phage (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Riot (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Lasher (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Agony (2021) #1, Extreme Carnage: Toxin (2021) #1, and Extreme Carnage Omega (2021) #1. The two bookending volumes are 30-page stories. This story follows on from the recent “King in Black” event, and amongst other things, brings together characters and plot-threads from Flash Thompson’s run as Venom, as yet another politician, in league with yet another popular right-wing campaigning group (who might be an already existing one dug out of the store-cupboard), jumps on the ant-mutant bandwagon; though with “mutant” crossed-out on the merchandising and a vaguely non-white alien face stuck on instead. The story is a straightforwardly linear one, adding a new cast member in each of the individual character issues, while continuing with the main plot and base character grouping, as, following on from the King in Black business, a new iteration of Carnage escapes from the Symbiote Hive memory-bank, and decides to give the abovementioned senator something to really complain about.I wasn’t expecting much, not being a fan of Carnage, but reading the first couple of pages, which had surprisingly excellent artwork compared to the usual second-rate cartoony stuff we usually find in Carnage stories, I was hooked from the start, and just kept reading to the end. The writing team was pretty good too, despite this being one of those round-robin serials with several writers each on individual issues.

Great Book about Spider-Man Villain Carnage as he recruits his Symbiote Siblings for a task to spread panic and fear among the members of the friends of humanity.
