Good concept, but not easy to apply and editting is sloppy
I have enjoyed Denise Austin products in the past, so expected to have a similar experience this time.I'm just finishing up week 2, with 6 lbs of weight loss. For the most part, I have found the meals to be very tasty and surprisingly filling, even on the low calorie count days. My husband has been surprised at that as well, and has been particularly shocked when he was satisfied with vegetarian meals. However, there are problems.*The 12 exercises do NOT take just 12 minutes to do because you have to spend nearly that much time trying to figure out what it is that you need to be doing, especially when you are instructed to do two contradictory things with the same leg or arm (the problem is that one direction should have applied the left leg, and the other to the right, but both said the same leg). It would have been helpful for the book to come with a DVD demo-ing the exercises rather than just having the pictures and written instructions.*Several of the recipes call for products that do not appear to be available in my area--ground chicken, Irish oatmeal, Amy's Vegetarian Bean Soup to name a couple.*Some of the recipes obviously have missing ingredients--for example a "Turkey Pecan Salad" that has no pecans in the ingredients list.*Sometimes different products are used when there doesn't seem to be a good reason. For example, why "whole grain" bread one day and "sprouted grain bread" the next?*Several times "tortillas" are used, but no further information is given about them. My preferred brand of tortilla comes in an 8" and a 10" version. The 8" tortilla is 100 calories and the 10" tortilla is 200 calories, so there is a significant difference between the two.I would also mention that as a person with Celiac disease, I would love to see Denise offer an on-line supplement with suggestions for substitutes when gluten containing products are used.

A bit of a con
Denise is a wonderful fitness motivator and her latest book is no exception. Packed full of positivity and delicious low fat recipes plus a 12 minute toning routine for every day of the week, its designed to be big on progress with easy to fit exercise routines that can be slotted into the busiest persons day. Top marks to Denise for this. What I really object to however, is her sensationalist claims, employed by many diet and fitness writers to gage their audiences interest enough to part with some more hard earned cash.In the opening chapter of the book she claims you can lose pounds and inches fast by following her 12 minute toning routines and healthy eating plan. Thats it! Then in the next paragraph she proceeds to explain you are also expected to clock up 12 miles cardio per week in addition to this. Readers you do the math - obviously more than 12 minutes a day by my reckoning!I find this dishonest approach really offputting for what could be an excellent diet and fitness manual for people in need of loosing weight and becoming more active. The truth is losing weight requires time, commitment and hard work. I am no stranger to that. But C'mon Denise at least tell it like it is and drop these sensationalist claims that have no basis in reality.

The Best
Love this book -- it is one of the best diet/lifestyle books ever written. The program is easy...so simple to follow and is very balanced so that you do not feel deprived of good foods. One of my favorite lunches in the book is a PBJ...it feels like you are cheating but you're not! By the end of the week, I lost 4 lbs and I felt terrific. I love Denise's inspirational tips throughout the book to keep going and stay motivated. This is all you need to get and stay on track. I am a big fan of Denise's workouts...they are challenging but not over the top crazy...(like Turbofire or Insanity which are unnecessarily strenuous on the body)...I love all of them...even the oldies!! I highly recommend this book and Denise's workouts...you'll lose weight and feel great...b/c as Denise says "You are worth it"!

Good resource for healthy eating and exercise!
Food and exercises really good. Since I've not the time to do all that cooking continually - I did the 3 weeks HOWEVER did not do the extra 2 miles of running, etc and as stated in the book - you wouldn't see the 12 pound weight loss. I still do the 12 minute exercises daily though -- it good for AM prep for the world :)Good writings also about calories and the body -- If I were a runner -- I guess I'd seen more positive results. I later found out that I have been lacking in calories for the exercise I do so now have to try to balance my eating and exercise to avoid putting my body into starvation mode which holds the calories/fat versus burning off. This fact -- I learned from a Dietician. Yet this book is a good resource!
