History of Europe

This is the most beautifully written history book I've ever read. Even I have been scared of history text books, but this book read like a story as history is supposed to be.

It seems author has tried biting off more than he can chew. The book has a lot of bibliography but constitutes only short paragraphic commentaries on serial events, nothing substantial. Sometimes these paragraphs end in only half pages. If you're an Undergraduate student, then never go for this.Renaissance, The treaty of Westphalia, Unification of Italy and Germany, Habsburg empire, Industrial Revolution, French Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, Continental System, Metternich era, Colonialism, WWI, Russian Revolution, WWII and then Coldwar - All these aren't enough to be read in short commentaries. At least a person knows more than these merely paragraphic introductions.Seriously, this wasn't expected.

The narrative was well-versed and written with a storytelling perspective that doesn't bore me out at any point of time.Cheers to the author for describing such instances in a nuanced way.

I liked the tour taken to Europe through this book. I bought this book for my wife . She used it to teach her students.

Absolutely amazing read, very informative and written with great detail. The illustrations and images in tandem with the chapters really complete the whole book.
