International readers may find this difficult to understand
I purchased this book to preread and evaluate for potential use in my coaching of international students. There is much American humor that requires the reader to be a native or at least more than 20 years in the U.S. Idioms, cultural references, and unique situations abound. What's enlightening and even humourous for an American is impossible for someone from outside to understand, especially from Asian cultures.

The Best of Both Worlds: Funny and Insightful
This book made me laugh out loud numerous times, but I also learned a lot about how to BE in the workplace, which is no small feat. As someone who struggles with introversion and finds the little things so stressful, especially small talk, entering a meeting, work parties, and talking to important people, this book has already helped me out in such a short time. I plan on recommending it to everyone, from people just starting out in their career to those higher-up. At the end of the day, we really are all outsiders.

Good value with many helpful hints and tips.
This book offered a nice balance approach to helping the reader to get along with just about any co-worker situation they could face in the business world. We have all had that one co-worker. The one that inwardly we cringe when we see them walking up to us. This guide helps to navigate sometimes sticky social and interpersonal situations that can arise in the professional world. Whether you are a checker at a grocery store, or an editor of a famous magazine everyone needs to be able to navigate the social scene of their business with the correct level of professionalism and grace. Quick and easy tips in each section are bold faced and can easily be put into practice immediately such as the repercussions of being late to the importance of eye contact. My only drawback to this book is that I find the prose style and organization style very choppy. While being succinct is never a bad thing, being too brief and unnecessarily breaking up chapters can be just as bad as long winded and boring reads. I felt that the author could have combined several sections together without feeling like the content was being dragged out. I understand that author is a professional in the magazine and short prose industry, but longer manuals need a different writing style and feel than an article in a magazine.I would recommend this book to people looking for tips to help gain interviews for new careers. Many of the tips are great for getting your foot in the proverbial door of a company, but not so helpful to someone who is experienced in their industry.

Sometimes working well with others is a task...help is on the way!
Another great go-to for college students. This book, by Ross McCammon, is very humorous at times. I am not a big fan of large groups of people or interacting with them and this book is definitely helping me work on that. I also have a hard time filtering from my brain to my mouth, especially when I get flustered or am already stressed out! I am learning when and how it is appropriate to speak in the work place. I feel out of place a lot and I think that has a lot to do with the anxiety of being around people, but this book show you ways and techniques to cope with these stressful “people” situations. This book is great for those newly entering the work force but could be very beneficial to people, like myself, that have been in the work force for some time now. You are never too old to learn, even if you think you already know everything! I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Reassuring Help is Offered
I am not the demographic for whom this book was written. I read it because it was mentioned in conversation that it was a funny trendy book about how to succeed in the business world. As a retired educator, I did not expect to find this book engaging nor educational. to the contrary, I discovered that it si a very valuable book and one from which anyone who interacts with other people, could learn a lot. I am looking forward to giving this book as a gift to high school or college graduates. With its deceptively breezy style, a great many lessons are taught. A really good book which in a kind, humane way lets the newbie know that he is not alone.

Learn how to interview, work and get along with your coworkers in this very funny book
If you're preparing for a interview or getting ready to start a new job, get some great points from this book! If not for some of the language, it would make a good required book for high school students to teach them about interviewing and getting ready for the real world. In the book he also goes into how to pitch ideas to your boss and other coworkers, time management and the importance of being on time in the business world. I like his down to earth attitude and the way that he explains the skills that it takes to make it in the business industry.I received this book for free in exchange for writing this unbiased review.

Laugh Out Loud Funny with Great Tips!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! And I plan on purchasing it for friends and family for the holidays. I think some of the reviewers here are clearly showing their age or completely lacking a sense of humor! Maybe it's a book for a slightly younger crowd? A work bible for the millennials? I just turned 30 and I felt like the writer really got me and I feel like it would be perfect for my peers and those slightly younger, maybe those graduating from college and job hunting or those going through a quarter life crisis and wondering what the next steps are in their career. But I also think there are nuggets here for any age and I think the writer's story is particularly inspiring. Unlike the lady who said he didn't have to interview for his job, if you actually read it he did and clearly aced those interviews. And on top of his own story he gives solid advice for how to nail things that are typically stress-inducing like interviews, toasts, meetings, work parties, business lunches, and getting through your first day at a new job. I didn't love the quizzes but I laughed out loud at the elevator conversation and key measures and equivalents sections and thought the chapter on lateness was one of the funniest things I've ever read. "You are NASA. Your schedule is filled with rocket launches. For god's sake, get those sons of bitches off the ground on time." Hahaha!!!

An amusing guide to social rules and behaviour in a professional / work environment
The book is a somewhat surprising tome on the types of things you generally do not learn during your MBA course. The author - Ross McCammon - is a former Esquire editor and as such well qualified to refer on the topics of dress, behaviour etc.So what do you get? It is a well documented - with examples - piece of analysis on how to behave in a business / professional environment. If you are relatively new in your professional career or if you have so far primarily been involved in roles that had a lower networking / external contact frequency you will gets lots of useful hints in the book.At the same time, if you have been involved in middle / top level management for a longer period of time and do not see yourself as highly awkward, the book will have perhaps less of a profound impact on your life but is still a good read.On the one hand it is well structured and written, on the other hand the author managed to infuse it with a good dose of humour. In addition the book is of a length that will allow you to consume it during a handful of commutes or during one or two short haul flights, which makes it a read I would definitely recommend. It may not completely change your professional life or success therein but it is likely to help and it will be no hardship to read it.

A fearless approach to daily challenges
In a theatric way McCammon describes a little piece of all of us. In the lines of this book you will find some boring stuff as well, but it is again so magical to discover that the same stuff, emorional whirlpools of everyday challenges, the process of maturation in a job is a cloned process. Amazingly, one gets a wow-effect or a dear-god-i-was-through-that-shit. And this adds confidence, just like nailing a doctrine. Not a book for under 30.Thanks Ross!!!!
