I bought this to occasionally check the temperature in the river on which we live. I accidentally left the thermometer in the water overnight once (it was attached to a cord), and when I pulled it out of the water I discovered the numbers and all other markings on the device had disappeared. It is now a useless paperweight. Maybe this thing is OK if you plan to only dunk it in the water and take it right back out again, but in my opinion a water temp thermometer shouldn't have markings that disappear when left in the water!

The second time I went to use this thermometer, it was gone, only the screw on top and carabiner remained. The cap screws on and somehow the chrome case with the thermometer in it had unscrewed itself. I guess this manufacturer has never heard of loctite. To say I'm pissed is an understatement because I also lost a couple of hours of a prime sulfur hatch tracing my steps back to the car looking for it. No luck. $18 for one use!!!

Works great, and very portable. Sometimes the thermometer rotates on its own inside the enclosure and requires re-situating in order to make sure the preferred F or C measurement is showing.

I work in the field monitoring and gathering data on freshwater streams. This is rugged, easy to carry, and easy to read both F and C scales even in snow and ice. Unit is only 5 inches. Do not go by listing in this review as it only goes to feet as smallest scale. Weight the same. Its weighs an ounce at best.

Very light-weight, a good thing for backpacking. I checked the accuracy against an NIST certified digital thermometer and it was spot-on between 50 and 80 F, so, presumably, equally accurate over it's range. My only concern is that the machine threads that allow you to screw the top in place are a little fine and may be easily cross-threaded. I'll be taking this apart frequently when I use it in salt water - it will need to be thoroughly rinsed off! Mostly I'm very happy with the accuracy and light-weight.

I got this to measure lake and river water temperatures, and it works well for that. I find that I can get anaccurate enough reading in a couple of minutes or less. The unit is lightweight with good options for connectinga loop or lanyard. The F/C selector is nice, making it easy to set and forget to one or the other. It would be nice if ithad a pocket clip.

I purchased the item to hang off my vest when fishing so as to know the exact water temperature. It works perfectly and I have not complaints at all.

Tested the accuracy of this thermometer against an infrared thermometer, Pyrex kitchen thermometer, a ambient room temp and in and out of water, it consistently reads +3 degrees F higher between 40 and 80 degrees. Just gotta keep that in mind when on the creek.

I like to know the temperature, but only out of curiosity. I found that the little ones that clip to a zipper split at the hanging hole, electronic ones are bigger than I'd like and not robust.This one is tough enough to hang of a bag. It's also very accurate, matching quality devices I have elsewhere at home.I sought an item with white behind the red line, because anything else is hard to read. It also had to be include Centigrade, which this one definitely does.It does take a little time to reach an accurate reading, getting to within 5 degrees quickly but taking a few minutes longer to settle. However, it is a proper thermometer and all similar devices will act the same.

Excellent product in every way. No complaints or negative feedback at all... I would buy again.

I purchased this to check the temp of the water for winter sea swimming. It's perfect. I clip it onto the strap of my swimsuit. The one thing I'm not crazy about is the lines and numbers are very small. I have to ask the younger eyes to read the temp for me. 🤣
