LED Lighting Quirks / Fantastic Keyboard For The Price
Everything functioned perfectly right out of the box. While I love the keyboard as a whole, there are a few things to note regarding the LED lighting. When the lighting is set to white, whenever you glance away, you can briefly see a strange, chromatic-aberration-like effect where you will see the individual red, green, and blue colors used to compose it.In reactive ripple mode, if you type around 80 WPM, you will notice that the keyboard will stop to reacting every 10 keystrokes for about half a second. It seems as if the ripples are being queued up to a finite maximum and need to be cleared before further the keyboard will begin to react again. In the mode in which you can customize the color of each individual key, it seems you cannot edit existing presets and must start from scratch each time. As a result, if you create a preset and wish to adjust the color of a single key, you are forced to re-enter the color of all 104 keys to make the change. This is more of an inconvenience than a flaw and the presets appear to persist even after unplugging the keyboard, but if you intend on frequently tweaking those presets, this may become a greater problem.Compared to the Z-77, the lighting is no longer as smooth. For instance, in the rainbow wave mode, instead of a single key gradually shifting color along a gradient, the color will cycle between hard color presets of red, green, blue, violet, yellow, and teal. Also, when setting the LEDs to react with typing, the lit keys will no longer gradually fade out as with the Z-77 and will instead instantly go out.All that being said, this keyboard is still quite incredible for the price it asks for. The keyboard is extremely clicky due to its use of Outemu blue switches, but if you look up typing tests using this kind of switch on Youtube, you can decide whether or not this is a disadvantage or a selling point. I knew what I was getting into in terms of the sound, but I'm also quite satisfied with the feel of the keys as well, as they are very tactile and require just enough force to to prevent accidental keystrokes, but not enough force to tire your hands out from long periods of typing. If you are using a membrane keyboard, the low price-point of this mechanical keyboard provides the perfect excuse to try it out for yourself and discover which you prefer. While I did nitpick on the lighting, it was only because everything else about this board performed beyond my expectations. The Z-88 appears to be very sturdily constructed with a metal top plate and a plastic bottom with very effective rubber feet that prevent the keyboard from shifting about on my desk's surface. The minimalist bezel is lined with a thin, silver, reflective, chamfered edge that lends the design a bit of elegance. While the lighting modes aren't perfect, they are certainly the icing on the cake for a keyboard this inexpensive. I will update my review should something unexpectedly fail, but for the moment, I'm very satisfied with the experience.

Yes it has some quirks, but its also incredibly affordable and definitely worth it. I won't go back to membrane keyboards
I'm very impressed with this keyboard. The top is made of a solid-feeling piece of aluminum, the bottom has rubber feet, and just overall feels very solid. The keys are strong and the switches feel like something high quality, even though they are cherry knockoffs. The key caps and switches are both cherry compatible so they can easily be switched out. This is my first mechanical keyboard, and it makes me feel like I have missed out when using the membrane type keyboard from the past.Though the listing isn't very clear on this, yes the keys are fully programmable as far as the RGB LED backlighting goes. Something else to note is that this keyboard actually has 5 presets that can be totally customized. Meaning I can have a backlight layout for every situation. The keyboard comes with a 6 foot micro USB cable that is easily removed from the rear. It is removed easily, but not so easily to where a small tug would rip it out. This key board makes use of F1-F12 by adding secondary function to the keys. Though this is a very nice feature, finding replacement keycaps with the same symbols would likely be next to impossible. The key caps are made of ABS plastic, but still feel very nice. I can also easily see the letters on the keyboard with or without the backlighting turned on.The keyboard resumes the last backlight setting it had before it was shut down meaning you wont have to cycle through different modes to get it back the way it was after each start up.Each backlight mode is color customizable with the exception of the rainbow stripping which still has the option to change stripping direction. The font on the keys is a bit strange in some places but is mostly easily visible. The back lighting is a bit dim, even at max setting, but is still definitely visible. There are some things that are a bit annoying. When programming the LED backlighting it will still send keystrokes to the computer. Another thing is that if you don't like your color scheme on the first try, you will actually have to completely reprogram all of the keys. There is absolutely no edit option. I also don't really care for the fact that there is no light indicating the windows key has been locked.Pros:-Fully customizable RGB backlighting-Cherry compatible-Metal top-Real mechanical switches-5 Backlighting presets-Sturdy construction overall-Grippy rubber feet on the bottom-Windows lock function-Floating key design-Overall just very aesthetically pleasing and satisfying to type onCons:-No editing function for the backlight programing-LEDs are bit dimmer that I would've liked-No windows lock indicator-No FN key on the left sideOverall:I would say you get way more than what you pay for. This keyboard actually has some features that high end keyboards don't have. For $50, if you're looking for a RGB mechanical keyboard, this is the one to get. Yes it has some quirks, but its also incredibly affordable and definitely worth it. I won't be switching back to membrane keyboards ever again, after using this keyboard

Good entry level KB, but don't plan on using other brand switches.
Even though I was a bit disappointed with this purchase, I still have to give it a pretty good review, because it is still a really good value for what you get. I bought this because of the "replaceable switches", and it has RGB lighting. I have lots of spare mechanical switches and thought this would be a great way to customize a keyboard with different types of switches on various keys. While these are mx-style Outemu switches, the pins on them are very slightly different than other mx-style switches, including the other Outemu switches I have from another keyboard. So that means all the other switches I have don't quite fit into the motherboard. They sorta go in a bit, but then you'll end up bending/breaking the pins on them trying to get the switch seated properly (even the included switches are difficult to remove and install). So alas, I could not use any of the other switches I had :(But, this is still a very good entry-level mechanical keyboard, especially for the price. there are plenty of LED lighting options, and I like the slim profile of the keyboard. The USB cord is removable, and you can route it straight out the back or to each side. The construction is also good for this price range, and it feels solid. It does come with a few spare switches, so if you ever do have one die on you, you'll be able to replace it. you just won't be able to use any other mx-type switch.
