Yes it is "very" compatible, I use it to connect an Ultra and IMac Pro or Macbook Pro together. You can remotely run Apps on a Macbook Pro or IMac Pro from your Ultra without discernable lag. If you have 2 screens on your Ultra you can use the second screen to run your other device in a window size of your choice. Its all a bit overkill but it makes me smile, oh, and it can fast transfer files to and from etc. Pleased I am. (I bet you can guess that tho')
