I am really happy with this book. I read through the whole thing. It is full of extremely helpful photos and the text is not very complicated. I feel that if doing residential wiring, and one follows the advice/guidance in this book that the results will likely meet relevant NEC and IRC codes without the extreme complexity of an actual code book.Even if one is planning to delve into more complicated books, it is worth reading this book first in order to get an idea of what should be looked at.

Rated five-stars from the perspective of someone brand-new to DIY electrical projects. Great explanations of basic wiring tasks.I also recommend it for the DIY homeowner who’s never read a code book or studied from a true professional, who learned “from their dad” or “used to do construction.” We don’t know what we don’t know, and this is one field where we need to be doing things exactly correct for safety. I improved my J-hooks for terminal screws and learned the capacity limits of junction boxes from this book.(I’ve seen the work done by people who “used to do construction.” It should be the epitaph on their tombstone when their luck runs out and the 120/240 volts bites them or ignites their walls.)

Excellent basic reference. Gives me basic information and background. It has either given me the information I need or has given me the basics I need so I know what to look up to get the more indepth information I need. Excellent basic reference. I am buying my daughter one.

Covers the basics of wiring very well. Good examples used. I know very little about electricity and wiring but this book has helped a lot, especially with simple instructions and good pictures. Definitely a good buy.
