Product information: The stimulation of the superficial fascia with the Blackroll NEEDLEROLLER has a variety of effects. The tingling, circulation-promoting effect is immediately noticeable, the pain sensitivity is significantly reduced after a short use. In combination with the treatment of deeper tissue layers, the BLACKROLL NEEDLEROLLER can regulate collagen and elastin production. Use: the pressure of the Blackroll roller roller can be dosed very well. Roll on the skin back and forth and stimulate the free nerve ends in the skin. The NEEDLEROLLER is particularly suitable for stimulating the reflex and acupuncture zones. It is also ideal for preparing for work with the Blackroll Standard, the Blackroll Mini, the Blackroll Duoball and the Blackroll Releaser.

Stimulating and easy to use
I have tried fascia release exercises through yoga class before, using simple tennis balls to release aches and pains, so I had no idea what to expect from this unusual roller! It's a surprising feeling, with different sensations present across legs (it felt heaven pressed into the backs of my thighs) and a tingling sensation around my lower back. I really enjoyed trying everywhere out. It's easy to store and great fun to use, and I definitely felt good afterwards.

An instrument of torture?
I was sceptical before getting this so had low expectations. I was thinking that acupuncture was a science and pins needed to be applied ever so precisely in the exact locations on the human body for benefit. And this roller wouldn't be able to do that as the pins would be applied more randomly. Now I've used it I have to say that it does have a soothing effect, particularly on the upper back/shoulders, which when sitting at a computer desk for hours at a time can get tensed up. So it does seem to do something. And it isn't just an instrument of torture. In fact it isn't that torturous at all despite having 496 pins on it (if I counted correctly). The pins aren't super sharp and shouldn't draw blood. Plus there is some give in them as they are in rubber bases around the roller.I've also used on my legs which sometimes stiffen up and it seems to help with that too.

Medieval Torture Device that gets Results
There are many cheap devices promising to soothe aches and pains and provide you with a pleasurable back massage. There are also high end chairs, robotic hands etc which promise a similar solution. The Blackroll Needleroller Black Massageroller falls somewhere in the middle and indicates that it uses acupuncture style techniques to achieve results. When the product arrived I was sceptical, it genuinely looks like some form of medieval torture device with its sharp spikes. It also looks as though it would be particularly painful, but surprisingly it's not. You need a relative or friend to use the product on you and it's fair to say you should ask them not to apply a great deal of pressure. As mentioned the product is not painful, but it doesn't necessarily feel what I would describe as pleasurable either. What it does deliver is results, my back felt relaxed after and the slightly dull ache that was there felt soothed.I will be using this on a regular basis and I would recommend to others!

Brilliant on feet & back. Reckon it would ease plantar fasciitis
Despite being called a needleroller and looking relatively sharp nothing ever pierces the skin.It provides quite an unusual and stimulating sensation, somewhere between a scratch/tickle/poke, varying depending on the pressure you use and where on your body you’re using it.It is SO NICE using it on the soles of my feet. I wish I’d had it when I’d suffered from plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago as I’m sure it would have provided some relief. On my feet I can use quite a bit of pressure and enjoy it but have to take a lighter approach on my back and arms. Thicker areas of skin such as thighs can take more pressure and feel quite relaxing. It’s more stimulating and sensitive on thinner skinned areas. I found it quite ticklish when my partner used it on the sensitive lower and side parts of my back!Only downside of the needleroller is that you can’t really enjoy doing it on your own back due to the angle so it’s ideal if you’ve got a cooperative partner to help you out.RESULTSI’ve only been using it a few days but I find that straight after using it my skin can be a bit pink and feels slightly tingly. The pinkness dies down within a few minutes and the tingling a bit longer. I don’t have any specific pain issues so am just using it for general health & relaxation.USING WITH BLACKROLL (STANDARD)I combine the needleroller with the Blackroll foam roller in standard density. The needleroller is nice to use beforehand but you can also use it afterwards if you wish.QUALITY & CLEANINGThe needleroller seems well made, with a sturdy head made from solid rubber and metal needles. It rolls smoothly and doesn’t have any squeaks in the mechanism.I haven’t yet washed it but it says you can rinse with soap and water provided you dry it off with a hairdryer to prevent water settling on it (since it’s not rust resistant).I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking to aid muscle relaxation and recovery.

Surprisingly effective
I suffer from lower back pain that starts at the base of my spine and spreads through the sides of my buttock areas and around my thighs. On especially bad days my knees are also affected. Usually, I grit my teeth, pop some ibuprofen, rub in relief gel, and try not to have to get up from my chair. I was sceptical that this would work, but then I thought, why not? I'm glad I took the chance because it really has helped. It's a bit heavy in the hand and the wooden handle is easy enough to grip, though it might be better with some rubber or grooves, especially if you are using massage oils as well or have just came out of a hot bath or shower and are using it on yourself. The box has a code that can be scanned to download an app which gives some simple exercises designed to help reduce pain, well worth a look in. You do need to use a light hand when using the roller itself as it will otherwise be uncomfortable as the spikes are quite substantial and prickly. It's super easy to use though as long as you keep this in mind, my teenager was able to use it on her aching legs without any bother at all, It hasn't cured my pain, but it certainly has helped and along with walking and losing weight in conjunction with my Fitbit, has helped quite a bit.

Well made, easy to use, creates micro pores to aid in the absorption of creams and skin care products.
This is a well made needleroller, with a rather basic wooden handle, and a very free running roller. The micro needles, create tiny 'micro channels' in the skin to help the skin to absorb skin care products, and to stimulate the production of new skin cells. It is very difficult to measure the effectiveness of these products, however it does a good job, and leaves the skin tingling. It is well made and is easy to use.
