can this hold the bar with weights attached? or only the bar itself?

You wouldn’t be able to place the weights on the bar if the hooks are attached to the wall. However, there is a hook sold on Amazon for the weight plates in similar prize range as this.If you are planning to attach them to a smith machine I don’t know if it will work. Look at the weight recommendations listed in the description/specifications. It does a good job holding my bar that weighs about 40-50lbs.
