Does what it states on the cover
Having read 'How to win friends and influence people' by Dale Carnegie, I anticipated that any other books by the author would be money well spent, and this book did not disappoint. My only reservation about purchasing this book was that there might be alot of overlap between it and the aforementioned title however these concerns proved to be unfounded. There is lots of fresh material in this book and if you enjoyed 'How to win friends and influence people', you will definitely benefit from this book.If you're considering buying a Dale Carnegie title for the first time then you are in for a treat! It basically does what it says on the tin: it teaches you how to stop worrying and start living. It really is as simple as that and as you read through, you will find that alot of the suggestions and principles aren't rocket science, indeed you may already be familiar with some of them, but as Dale emphasises, we forget with astonishing rapidity. This isn't a book you should read once and put it away, it should be a guide to a new way of living, a useful reference tool. It will require persistence and daily application but it's a small price to pay for a better, less stressful life. The magic isn't in the book itself but in the reader putting the principles into action and getting results. One of the things I enjoy about Dale Carnegie' writing is that he often provides examples, anecdotes and snippets of advice, not only from successful people (presidents, philosophers, successful businessmen and so forth-many of whom he has personally interviewed); but he also provides examples from people in everyday life, many of whom have attended one of his courses. Some of the stories are fascinating and will really inspire you.Another aspect that I apprecite is the summary at the end of each chapter and each section of the book, of the key principles discussed. They don't compensate for reading the chapters themselves but they're a useful reminder. The author is clearly well read and has spent most of his life researching and teaching in the areas which he writes about. Not only has he taught others but his students have taught him as well, which is demonstrated by the many examples of their personal results, which have all been brought together in this one book.I recommend this book without reservation, and also 'How to win friends and influence people.' I've also recently purchased 'How to enjoy your life and your job' but that book extracts heavily from 'How to win friends and influence people' and includes a section from 'How to stop worrying and start living' so it's probably not worth buying if you already own those two titles.

One of the only books that made a big difference and keeps doing so
I came across this book many months ago, at a very stressful time of my life when I was suffering from anxiety and lots of worries. I remember I Googled the topic and came across a PDF eBook version of the book online and started reading it immediately. They do say sometimes the best things in life are free! very true! I have since gone to buy the book of-course. Reading the book helped me a lot and made massive impact in my way back to peaceful being. Just reading the first two chapters was such a revelation, I was reading and re-reading it every day and it helped me a lot to rid myself from various daily worries! I am ever so grateful to have come across this book and of all the books I have read I can say this one has had the most impact. There are various excerpts and quotation from the book that I keep in my iPhone and remind myself on daily basis and I can say it has made a difference! What makes the book very powerful for me and sets it apart from many other self-help books is all the real life stories. Dales Carnegie has literally interviewed 100's of people from prominent leaders and successful business people to ordinary people. He also draws insight and quotations from philosophers, leaders, and religions of all time. For me this makes the insights very believable and I think - even after all these years - Dale Carnegie and this book is the outmost authority on the topic of worry. Furthermore the writing is deeply sincere, concise and to the point, written in colourful and moving way. When I read the book I can feel that the writer has really put his heart and soul into this. The book is about 30 years old but I don't think there are any other books out there that come close to the level of knowledge and authority on this topic that you will find in this book. It also reenforces the timeless and universal origins of worry and how people overcome it - something that hasn't really changed much throughout time.I know one thing for sure now and that is that happiness is from within and the one thing that stops feeling of happiness, most than everything else, is worry and fear!
